March is Women’s History Month. While we observe the whole month today, President Carter issued the first Presidential Proclamation declaring the week of March 8, 1980, as National Women’s Week. It would take a national lobbying effort to change it from a week to a month, which led Congress to declare the entire month of March as National Women’s History Month in 1987.

To honor the women in our lives, we’ve asked some of our CRCOG staff to share their thoughts on women who have inspired them in their lives.

From the late great Linda Osten to the distinguished group we have now, and those in between, women I’ve worked with at CRCOG are my choice to be recognized for Women’s History Month. I’ve learned a lot from the friendships and collaboration and from paying attention to how they treat and work with others as women with many different backgrounds, lifestyles, and experiences. Thank you for the inspiration and impact on me and everyone else you encounter! - Erik Snowden, IT/GIS Coordinator

An important woman in my life is my daughter. Her enthusiasm and commitment to her faith and to helping others is an inspiration to me. She is also a lot of fun, and I enjoy spending time with her. - Jill Swenson, Accountant

There are countless admirable and impressive women I could name, but one thing that’s become abundantly clear to me over the years is the amount of utter nonsense women regularly endure. Or as writer and journalist Laurie Pennie noted a few years ago – “Most of the interesting women you know are far, far angrier than you'd imagine.” - Kyle Shiel, Principal Planner

My mother-in-law, Shirley Yoder, is someone I admire and want to emulate in my life. She is a woman of faith who is mindful and caring of others and is always gracious. She understands and responds to everything with an eye toward what is really important. - Pauline Yoder, Chief Operating Officer

We encourage you to take a moment to acknowledge and say thank you to a woman that’s inspired you. This newsletter is 1,113 words, approximately a 5.5-minute read.

CRCOG partners with EPR Systems

CRCOG is excited to announce its recent partnership with EPR Systems USA for Fire/EMS Records Management Software (RMS). CRCOG selected EPR Systems USA through a competitive RFP process.

Through this partnership, both CRCOG and Capitol Region Purchasing Council (CRPC) members are eligible to contract with EPR and benefit from FireWorks RMS. FireWorks RMS better prepares EMS and fire service professionals and has robust built-in service modules, including National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) reporting, inspections, hydrants, and more. In addition, with built-in ePCR and LMS modules, FireWorks RMS allows Fire and EMS organizations to manage their departments in one holistic system. FireWorks RMS will collaborate with CRCOG and CRPC members to develop and customize the software to fit members' needs. Please contact Kim Bona for more information.
