Dear Saint Mark Family,

God’s grace be with you.

I want to share some good news with you. Recently, we applied to the Housing and Homeless Council of the North Georgia Conference for a grant to continue our ministry with our unhoused and food insecure guests. We have been approved for an amount of $2,500. We celebrate this gift, and are thankful for the opportunity to continue making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.

Thank you to Viveca Richards and Robert Gilleo for applying, and for liaising with the Council representatives.

On another note, this Sunday we will begin collecting toys for our annual Pride for Parents ministry. Pride for Parents is an organization that enables families in South Atlanta to provide for their loved ones at Christmas, through the generosity of churches and other community partners. We are proud to continue our partnership with them.

Collection bins are located throughout the building, and we will collect toys through Monday, December 11, 2023, here at Saint Mark. You can also order directly from their Target and Amazon wish list. More information is listed in the bulletin, along with the QR Codes for ordering on Target and Amazon. Thank you for participating each year.

Please note that there will be no Wednesday Night Fellowship meal this coming Wednesday, November 22, because of the Thanksgiving holiday. To reserve your Wednesday Night meal for the following weeks, please email Robert Gilleo, to get it done in advance.

This Friday night will be the Youth Lock-in at the church. Approximately 30 youths and volunteers will continue this long loved tradition of spending an overnight at the church. They will enjoy a time of games, conversation, food, ministry project and more. Please keep the youth in your prayers, along with the volunteers, as they spend this time together.

Finally, we seek your prayers as we travel to Athens today for a Special Session of Annual Conference that will be held tomorrow, November 18, 2023. This called session of Annual Conference is to ratify the vote of the churches that have moved to disaffiliate from the denomination. This will be a painful and grief-laden time together as the body of believers, and as United Methodists. Please be in pray that God’s grace will abound for all gathered and for the churches represented. Thank you for praying.

I look forward to seeing you in worship this Sunday.

God’s goodness and mercies,

Pastor Carolyn.
