San Jose Weekend to Remember Conference

Dr. Chris and Alisa Grace, this year's speakers at our Connecting Heart & Soul Conference in March, are back in the Bay Area to speak at the Weekend to Remember Conference in San Jose, June 2-4. For details, click HERE.

No First Fridays This Summer

We will not be meeting on the first Friday of the month during summer so we can focus on special summer Sunday gatherings, the first of which is the all-church Summer Kick-Off Potluck on June 4. We are prayerfully considering what our intergenerational meeting will look like this fall. Please join us in praying for guidance and keep an eye out for next month's summer Sunday event.

Summer Senior Club

Seniors are invited to join this year's Summer Senior Club on the theme "renewal." This 10-week program is conducted between June and August for seniors from churches. You will receive a workbook of activities, and get two calls per week to join group activities with others from Bridges. For more info, click HERE. If you're interested in participating, please notify Sujana Panthulu (sujana.panthulu@gmail.com) and Julie Cheng will then call you to proceed with registration. The cost is $30 per participant.

Father's Day Gift Bags

We're excited to team up with CityTeam for our third year of honoring men who are changing their lives through their programs. This year, we are also teaming up with MUCH Hope to celebrate with men on local farms. We will be collecting donations for 120 gift bags, to be assembled at Bridges on June 9 at 10:00am and then delivered to CityTeam San Jose or the farms in Salinas. Please consider joining us by donating any of these needed items and bringing them to church by June 9. We are also seeking help with delivering the bags. For more information, please contact Lyn Rogers: lynrogers143@gmail.com or 408-355-5302.

Reasons to Believe Event

Instead of a regular monthly meeting on June 9, we will join an RTB Zoom webinar entitled "Human Exceptionalism: Degree or Kind?" Genesis 1:27 tells us that God created humans in his own image, but many Christians believe all animals are exceptional and humans are only more exceptional in degree. RTB thinks human exceptionalism is special because of God's image. Our chapter will join the webinar livestream on Friday evening, June 9, and all day Saturday, June 10. You may attend as much or as little of the webinar as your schedule permits. See more details and the required registration HERE. For a coupon code to waive the $10 livestream fee, call Kirby Hansen at 650-917-9107, text him at 650-823-3291, or e-mail kirbyh@pacbell.net.

LACS is Hiring

Los Altos Christian School is looking for Extended Day Care staff for the upcoming school year. The staff works 3-4 hours in the afternoons, supervising students on the playground, assisting with homework, and planning/implementing activities. Longer hours may be available on noon dismissal days and staff in-service days. This is a part-time position, perfect for college students and other community members who are interested in an education career, particularly in Christian education. If you know of someone who might be interested, please have them email viola.loo@lacs.com.

Short-Term Mission Trip to São Paulo, Brazil

Volunteer to join our summer short-term mission trip to São Paulo, Brazil, July 13-22! We will be working with our long-time missionaries Paulo & Ireni Mota and their organization (Restoration Ministries) to lead fun Bible programs for children and youth, and to participate in prayer outreaches to families in the surrounding Favela neighborhoods. The trip will cost around $2,000 per person, and partial scholarships are available. For more information, email Pastor Steve Durand: steve@bridges.church.

Sunday Morning Nursery Volunteers Needed

The Bridges nursery is looking for warm, loving volunteers to help care for our babies on Sunday mornings . The nursery needs help during the first or second hour on a weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis. For details or to volunteer, email Liliya Gor at liliya@bridges.church.

Men's Suit Donations

Men, are you cleaning out your closet and have a suit or two to get rid of? Donate your suits to San Francisco Adult & Teen Challenge! This is a live-in program for men and teens with addiction problems, to help change their lives through Christ. As the men approach graduation from this strict and structured program with a very high success rate, they are required to find work. One of your suits could help in those efforts as they interview and begin a new career! To coordinate the donation of your suit, please contact Don D'Arcy: dwdarcy.dd@gmail.com.

This Week's Message

The Gospel of Mark

Speaker: Pastor Dan Stockum

Message: Nothing Required

Scripture Focus: Mark ‭7:24-37‬

Sometimes it feels like we run to Jesus in desperation. Other times it feels like Jesus shows up in our lives totally unannounced and unexpected. Either way, there is only one thing we need to have—nothing at all.

Pray with Us

Our Bridges family prays together virtually on Wednesdays at noon. We'd love to have you join us, even if you can only get away from other things for five minutes. When we come before God's throne of grace to find mercy and help in our time of need, God hears our prayers and always answers. We invite you to join our prayer time HERE on Zoom every Wednesday at noon. The passcode is: Prayer.

If you can't make the noon meeting, a prayer group also meets on Wednesdays at 7:00pm on Zoom. Please use the same Zoom link and passcode as above.

A third prayer group meets in person on Sunday mornings, 8:30-9:15am in Room 116.

Serve at Bridges

We’d love for each person to find a place to use their God given-gifts within our Bridges family. If you haven’t already, please take a moment to prayerfully consider how God would like you to serve at Bridges, and let us know by filling out this online form: bridges.church/serve. If you've already filled out the form, a ministry leader will contact you in the coming weeks to arrange next steps. Thank you for helping build our church!
