YMCA Membership Features

Learn More about YMCA Memberships

In addition to youth program, YMCA memberships offer features for adults and families such as job training, English classes, food access, and housing programs.

A parent of a 1st & 3rd grader at Bridge, Ms. Saldana, chose the YMCA due to all they have to offer. Her daughters ask her to take them every day. She says that they enjoy painting, the gym, swimming, games. The most important part to mom is the help with their homework. Ms. Saldana stated it's also convenient for her to pick them up after work.

Currently at School ...

In fifth grade ELA, we are coming to the end of our first module, Stories of Human Rights. We are continuing to learn new vocabulary words every week. Students have nine index cards that they should be using to study every week! We are also in the process of writing a literary essay about our first novel of the year, Esperanza Rising by Pam Muñoz Ryan.

K2 is wrapping up our unit on toys with our annual Toy Museum. We also learned all about apples and pumpkins. We applied this learning when we went to the apple orchard!

Mayor Michelle Wu, the City of Boston’s Human Services Cabinet, and Boston Centers for Youth & Families provided Bridge with a Swim Safe Boston grant. This grant allows us to provide free aquatics programming to our K2 students. This seven-week class will help our students develop comfort with the following swim skills: underwater exploration, floating and learning to safely exit the pool. Leading this effort is Sophie Schacht, Academic Behavior Support Special Educator for our Lower Division.

Members of the M&T Bank Financial Empowerment & Education team visited our 7th grade class led by Michael Graham to teach financial empowerment. This program covers the topics of budgeting, savings accounts, checking accounts and debit and credit cards.

K2 had their final day in the garden with Farmer Addy. This week's class talked about the different parts of plants that we eat. We looked at roots systems and then everyone harvested handfuls of carrots and took them back to class for an afternoon snack.

Mr. Roberts, 6th-8th Social Studies Teacher, announces Bridge's Student of the Week each Monday. This award is given to one 6th, 7th, and 8th grader each week. Traits he looks for are:

  • Homework completion
  • Class participation
  • Adhering to the Jaguar values
  • Zero reflections
  • Zero reminders

The Student of the Week for the week of November 13, 2023 is Melanie Pimentel, 7th Grader.
