Columbus Rescue Mission on the Move!
The Columbus Rescue Mission is still located at 1471-25th Avenue. Work continues at the old Mory's Haven location, but there is still much more that needs to be done before the move takes place. God is in control and His timing is perfect. We trust in his will as His amazing grace continues to shower upon us. Please continue to pray for us during this period of transition.

We are still in need of financial donations to complete the work that needs to be done before we are able to move into the new facility. If God puts it on your heart to make a donation, please contact the mission at 402-563-1096 and ask for Karen or Nathan or click on the tab below.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.” Matthew 5:3-4

A couple days ago I had the blessing of hearing a New Life Program graduate who is currently enrolled in seminary preach the Sunday service at our church. Praise the Lord! At lunch afterwards, Chaplain Ted and Pam Pearson and I were discussing the difference between church ministry and ministry at the mission. All three of us remarked about how one of the blessings of ministry at the rescue mission is that while many people in churches are able to hide their struggles with sin, most of our guests have lost that luxury. Their sin has reached a crisis point and they have come to us because they have no where else to go or because they are finally ready to try something different.
To be truly poor in spirit means that you recognize your spiritual bankruptcy, Romans 3:23 says “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”, you mourn over your spiritual condition with a godly sorrow that produces repentance, and that repentance leads to life (1 Cor 7:10). This is why the poor in spirit receive the kingdom of heaven.
“You have never talked to a mere mortal.” The Weight of Glory by C.S. Lewis.

This quote from Lewis is true of the man or woman who is in the pew every Sunday and this is true of every one of our guests as well. We are no mere mortals and apart from the Gospel of Jesus Christ we will spend eternity away from the presence of the Lord. But through the Gospel, the good news of the finished work of Jesus Christ upon the cross on behalf of sinners, we can be declared righteous by God and adopted as his children. There is hope in the Gospel.
The Columbus & Living Water Rescue Mission receives absolutely no state or government money but relies solely upon God through your generosity. Would you please consider giving a one-time or recurring monthly donation to the Columbus & Living Water Rescue Mission in Columbus and York so that we may continue bringing the hope of the Gospel to our communities?

Living Water Rescue Mission
Michael is a 57-year-old man who had been living in his car while fighting a battle with Leukemia. He arrived at the Mission in March of this year where he actively participated in Bible studies, and we could see God restoring Michael’s relationship with Him. He was diligent in looking for work and taking care of his personal business. Michael found work at a local grocery store and worked hard to save money and get into independent living. Michael acquired his apartment in May, but he seemed to be a little apprehensive about moving out because he did not have friends or family nearby and he did not want to be alone. His solution was to become a volunteer at the Mission. It appears that Michael has family and friends here after all… at the Living Water Rescue Mission.
Ephesians 2:19 So now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens along with all of God's holy people. You are members of God's family.
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

Proverbs 31:28-29
The father of godly children has cause for joy. What a pleasure to have children who are wise.
IN GOD WE TRUST
Galatians 5:13

For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don't use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

Columbus Rescue Mission New Life Program
Over three decades of drug use, prison, jail time and countless broken relationships. Add all those together and you would get our newest disciple Philip Krieger. Most people would have given up on such a person, it would appear that any and all hope is lost. But I am reminded of what Jesus told His disciples in relation to who can be saved. Luke 18:27 But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” Philip now has a desire to follow Jesus, to give it all to Him. Philip has been here in the program less than two weeks, please pray for him as the pull from the world will be strong.

Karen Phillips - Columbus Rescue Mission Administrative Assistant and Volunteer Coordinator

Would You Please Consider Volunteering at the Columbus and Living Water Rescue Mission?

1 Peter 4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

With busy lives, it can be hard to find time to volunteer, however the benefits of volunteering can be enormous to you, your family, and the Rescue Missions in Columbus & York. We are needing volunteers to help us between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. in Columbus to help in the clothing giving shed. We need two volunteers on Tuesday and Thursday and one volunteer on both Wednesday and Friday. We also are currently in need of evening chapel leaders – ½ hour a month or weekly blesses us greatly. We also have some nights available on our calendar to bring in an evening meal. If you are interested in bringing in a dinner please call Mindy Bates at 402-246-2058. We can always use painters and fixer-uppers. Finally, there is a tremendous need for translators for our Spanish speaking guests.

If you would like to be a blessing to those in need, please call Karen in Columbus at 402-563-1096 or LaVerna in York at 402-362-0127.

The June meeting in York will be held on Thursday, June 9. Thank You for your Patience
As you can see from the photograph above, construction on 15th street is far from being concluded in the near future. We realize that the construction has caused a great deal of frustration for everyone used to driving on 15th street. It has also effected us hear at the Columbus Rescue Mission as we have been unable to take furniture donations for quite some time now and more then likely, we won't be able to resume our normal activity until the end of August.

We want to thank you for patience and your understanding of our situation during this time. We are currently looking at other options but, for the time being, we are still unable to take furniture donations here at the mission.

At this time we are still accepting non-perishable food item donations, clothing donations (only one or two bags at a time please), and small household good donations (limit of one small to medium size box). As always, we are in need of financial donations throughout the year, especially with our move to the old Mory's Haven building happening in early 2023 if all goes well.

Again, we can't begin to thank you for your patience. It is greatly appreciated. We Praise the Lord and respect our donors so very much.
