Sunday

Sunday Sermon Series:

"First Century Stories for 21st Century Living"

Join us this Sunday as we recognize High School graduates during the 9:30 a.m. service. Graduates and their families are invited to brunch in the Welcome Center following the service.

Sunday Service Times

9:30 a.m. Contemporary Service in the Sanctuary

11:00 a.m. Traditional Service in the Sanctuary

Adult Summer Sunday School: Exploration of Christian Hospitality

9:30 a.m. in Fellowship Hall and Zoom

We’ll explore hospitality as it’s presented to us in the Old and New Testament, practices and spaces of hospitality at and beyond Covenant, and we’ll even practice a bit of hospitality with one another. It should come as no surprise… we’d love for you to join us, and to invite a friend.

Children's Summer Sunday School

Children, 1st through 5th grade, are invited to worship with their families during the 9:30am service and then join us in room 207 in the Education Wing after the “Time with Young Disciples” for a fun and engaging combined Sunday School class. Children crib through Kindergarten are invited to join us downstairs on the first floor from 9:30 to 10:30 for the Sunday School hour. Childcare is provided during the 11:00 service for children four and under on the first floor of the Education Building.

Open Picnic Table

5:30 - 7:00 p.m. on Fellowship Hall Patio

On Sunday evenings all families are invited to bring a picnic dinner and we provide the dessert. This month we'll focus on Creating Community with a book club on Wonder.

K-2nd grades will meet together from 5:30-6:15 p.m. and 3rd-5th grades will meet together from 6:15-7:00 p.m. Picnics are encouraged outside from 5:30-7:00 p.m. and all ages are welcome, as we will have fun games for younger children as well.

Summer Staff

We're excited to welcome Claire, Cate, and Davis to Covenant this summer and are grateful for their support. Please introduce yourself and welcome them if you see them on campus!

Claire Brown

A note from Claire:

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to serve again with children’s ministries this summer! I’m currently finishing my master’s degree in library and information science and have been a stay-at-home foster parent until my daughter reunified with her family last month. As a member of Covenant, I’m so appreciative of all the ways Children’s Ministries has nurtured our family and I can’t wait to learn, worship, and play with our youngest members at Sunday school and Open Picnic Table this summer.

Cate O’Malley

Intern for Christian Education

A note from Cate:

I'm excited to spend the summer at Covenant. I'm originally from Dayton, Ohio, but just graduated from Davidson College. At the end of August, I'll be working as a Davidson Fellow before heading off to Princeton Theological Seminary in the fall of 2024. The summer before my junior year, I worked at Roof Above through the Stapleton/Davidson internship and had the chance to stay in The Landing at Covenant. I'm passionate about educational development and learning and cannot wait to get to know the youth at Covenant! I'm hoping this summer with be deeply meaningful and fun for Covenant youth and their families, and I look forward to meeting everyone soon.

Davis Prevette

Intern for Youth, Mission and Outreach

A note from Davis:

Hi, my name is Davis Prevette, and I'm fortunate to have grown up at Covenant. I was baptized and confirmed here, and I've enjoyed being a part of this community all my life. Last summer, I had a great experience serving as a People in Mission Intern. I had the opportunity to work at Roof Above and serve our homeless neighbors, which proved to be a life-changing experience for me. I'm currently a rising Junior at UNC Chapel Hill and looking forward to helping the youth have fun and meaningful growth in their faith through Covenant.

Habitat/Stained-Glass Initiative

Last year, Covenant's Session created the Habitat/Stained-Glass Initiative to raise $210,000, half of which will replace four figures in our Sanctuary's stained-glass windows with the other half helping fund The Meadows at Plato Price with Habitat for Humanity in celebration of Habitat’s 40th anniversary. We are grateful to those who have donated more than $155,000 to this fund, leaving us with an additional $55,000 needed in order to reach our goal by June 30. If you would like to speak to someone about contributing to this special giving opportunity, please contact Amy Hunter or donate here. We look forward to celebrating this important milestone in the history of our church and city!
