Dear Church family,

Sharing God’s word is the core and common heritage of both Skillman and The Hills. It is fundamental to who we are as Christians, as we grow in our own personal relationships with Christ and baptize new believers. These two precious videos reflect how “recovery” groups at The Hills are sharing His word and leading to baptisms of program participants, as well as family members, friends and neighbors:

Caring for Church Staff

One of our top priorities is to better address the needs of all our current ministry and office personnel. So, the Assurances agreement we entered into with The Hills provides for their continued employment or a generous 9-month salary continuation (“severance”). Even if ministry or office personnel do not wish to accept a job offer with The Hills, they will still be provided 9 months of severance.

Also, several binding commitments have been made to our Child Development Center and Ruth Ann Prude. This includes continued employment of all CDC personnel (as determined by Ruth Ann). Transitional support is also being discussed for our janitorial, security and maintenance personnel.

All of the many a capella service, CDC, ministry staffing, domestic and international missions funding, employment and other protections and benefits of the Assurances go into effect only if Skillman members vote “Yes” to join The Hills.

Voting Update

Voting details have been shared in several of our emails to members, including this one from June 3 (click). Here are a few reminders and additional details on timing:

  • Mail-in ballots must be received at Guest & Gray law firm at 315 S. Bois D’Arc, Forney, TX by 5pm this Friday, June 10. If you have not yet received confirmation that your ballot was timely received, you can contact gail@guestandgray.com or ask for Gail or Joshua at 972-564-4644.
  • If your mail-in ballot was not timely received by Guest & Gray, please plan to vote in person at the Skillman main auditorium this Sunday, June 12.
  • Check-in for voting this Sunday will be in the main auditorium, beginning at 11am and remaining open until noon.
  • If you previously voted by mail, you can change your mail-in ballot by checking in to vote this Sunday, June 12.
  • Two separate seating areas will be designated in the main auditorium: one area in the front for people to vote (spreading out and sitting where you want to), and one further back for people who are just observing but not voting on Sunday.
  • There are many formalities to ensure the integrity of this process, such as a formal check-in table, instructions and roll call, distribution and collection of secret ballots, and documentation of everything done. Relying on advice from Elizabeth Alvarez at Guest & Gray, we anticipate the voting process will be complete by about 2pm and the result announced about 2:30pm.
  • Snacks will be available or you can bring a snack or lunch with you, if desired. This process may require more or less time and will be done as efficiently as possible.

We continue to seek and thank God for hearing our prayers and sharing inspiration and wisdom of the Holy Spirit with all Skillman members.

In His Service,

Craig, David and Shane
