|
Tuscany-Canterbury is one of the safest neighborhoods in Baltimore. Tuscany-Canterbury is home to 3800 people in 1700 homes, condos, and apartments.
There was 1 larceny for the first six weeks in 2022 . The larcenies in the neighborhood usually have been a theft from a car. Please remember to double check your car to make sure that it is locked.

Tuscany-Canterbury Winter Safety Suggestions |
|
- Check your car doors to make sure they are locked (even if you park in a condo or apartment building garage). Don't leave any valuables visible in your car.

Keep outdoor lights on porches and outside on condos throughout the night even if you are not home. This discourages criminals.
- If you see something suspicious, call 911 as soon as possible.

You need a better mask. It's time to upgrade to an N95 or KN95 mask. |
|
More effective masks are easily available and are needed to protect against the highly transmissible omicron variant of COVID-19, says Johns Hopkins expert Chris Beyrer, who also discusses proper mask care and when it's time to throw your mask away.

MASKS
High quality masks that fit closely continue to be an effective tool in controlling the spread of COVID-19.
WHICH MASK TO BUY?
The three recommended types of high quality masks are N95, KN95, and KF94. These masks consist of layers of high tech filtering material that may be electrostatically charged to trap 95% of the most risky particles.
However there are now a plethora of counterfeit masks available, particularly from online retailers. These may be even less effective than a cloth mask. Approved masks have the following characteristics:
N95’s meet US standards, They have head loops not ear loops and are printed on the front with an approved manufacturer name and model, the letters NIOSH and N95 in capital letters, and TC-84A-XXXX (where X represents numbers). They do not come in children’s sizes, though those marked S/M may fit older children.
5’s meet Chinese standards, are similar to N95’s, come with ear loops and are more comfortable than N95’s. Unlike N95’s they come in smaller sizes suitable for children. Genuine KN95’s must be stamped with the name of the manufacturer and model #, and GB26262019 (or GB26262006 if not expired). The FDA has a list of approved KN95 masks and companies such as https://bonafidemasks.com are exclusive distributors of KN95 masks.
KF94’s are high quality fold-flat masks that meet Korean standards. They come in smaller sizes suitable for children. They are not stamped with text however they are individually packaged in a glossy rectangular wrapper which includes the following information: “made in Korea” the product name, manufacturer and distributer, the lot number and expiration date.

WHERE TO BUY MASKS
Many people obtain masks online. Here are some suggestions for obtaining genuine high quality masks:
Project 95 is a nonprofit that vets and sells all types of approved masks.
Wirecutter is a product review site owned by the NY Times that has a guide for buying quality masks and a list of 12 red flags.

CAN YOU REUSE HIGH QUALITY MASKS? |
|
Current CDC guidelines recommend a maximum of 5 uses. Cleaning the masks in any way is not recommended. The masks should be discarded when visibly dirty or if the loops are no longer tight. Before reuse, masks should be stored in a dry secure paper bag for 5 days. |

The 3rd Amendment to the TCNA Covenants has been finalized and signed by Calvert and the various neighborhood associations (TCNA, Gardens of Guilford, Tuscany-Lombardy Co-op, Ridgemede-Ridgewood Condos) within Tuscany-Canterbury who signed the original covenants. The 3rd Amendment is posted on the TCNA web site.

Temporary Curbside Recycling Schedule: Every Two Weeks
Tuscany Canterbury recycling is "Week A". Pick up days for Tuscany-Canterbury is "Week A".

You can always take recycling to the Northwest Residential Drop-off Center, 2840 Sisson Street, Monday through Saturday between 9 & 5.
Weekly general trash collections will NOT be impacted by the new recycling schedule.

|
Public-Private Partnership to Maximize Local Recycling Collection Capacity during Pandemic is open to Tuscany-Canterbury residents.
Each Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m when curbside recycling is not picked up. WIN Waste will staff and operate several recycling drop-off centers in neighborhoods not receiving curbside service. This new partnership marks the third time during the pandemic that the company, which converts everyday residential and commercial waste into renewable energy, has enhanced the City’s recycling capacity by funding and staffing community collection sites.

New Recycling Carts were delivered to Tuscany-Canterbury homes on February 10. If you did not get on new cart, do not want it, or want a smaller one, call 311 to make your request.

Baltimore's Comprehensive Planning Process Engagement Partners Wanted |
|
Maryland requires each jurisdiction to conduct Comprehensive Plans in response to the Census. So Baltimore will be launching this two year process in April. In the meantime, they are seeking community based organizations to join the engagement leadership team.

New Traffic Calming Policy
Review and Comment by March 11, 2022

Traffic calming is one of the most important quality of life requests we get from all parts of our district. Currently, District 14 has the most traffic calming requests (left over from my predecessor and the huge list I added). The Department of Transportation has a new policy about how they prioritize where traffic calming will go, and who has to sign off. It is very important that all of us who care about this read through the policy and make comments. We want to ensure that our requests - from all across the district - are handled in an expedited manner.

Happy to proclaim we made it past the halfway mark of Winter 2022! As Valentine’s Day approaches please check out the websites for the TCNA restaurants that have extended themselves on a Monday!
The Ambassador will open at 4 pm on Monday (Valentine's Day) for indoor dining with a special menu designed to treat a loved one! The 25% discount will continue through the month of February for pick up or delivery.
Cypriana will open for indoor dining officially on Thursday, February 10th and be open on Monday for Valentine’s Day. Please check the menu on the website for your classic Greek favorites as well as specials.
One World Café will continue business as usual for the month of February but they are looking forward to spring with new specials and the return of events!
Hopkins Deli has a great selection of bubbly to toast all the wonderful people in your life on Valentine’s Day and don’t forget the 10% discount (except for tobacco products) for TCNA residents.
