Getting to know Sami

We welcome Sami Main on her first day on the staff at Chatham UMC! Here is a short video of speed round questions with Sami. Sami just graduated with a Masters of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in NYC. Did you know that before her call to ministry, she worked at Buzzfeed, and did improv theater in NYC? Time to Celebrate Our Graduates!


Deadline: Monday, June 12


If you are graduating or have a loved one that is graduating from Middle School level or above, please notify the church office. You may call (973) 635 -7740 or email Renae James at rjames@chathamumc.org.


Please include: Their name, from where they are graduating, if their studies are continuing, and the name of the next school they will be attending. Please send in your information no later than Monday, June 12th to be included in the special graduate insert on Sunday, June 18th.

SUNNYWOODS IS OPEN!


Flowers are a wonderful way to honor, celebrate or commemorate a special occasion or a loved one. Flower arrangements are created by Sunnywoods Florist and delivered to the Sanctuary for the Sunday morning service, you may choose to take the flowers with you after the service or specify to have them donated.

CHURCH OFFICE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT


The Chatham United Methodist Church is actively seeking an organized and detail-oriented Church Office Administrative Assistant to keep our church running smoothly and efficiently. This is a great opportunity to assist the church staff, congregation and ministries with its diverse activities and provide general administrative support on a part time basis (22 hours/week).


Applicants should possess strong communication and recordkeeping skills along with financial and light bookkeeping skills to assist the Financial Manager. Solid computers skills are also required- working knowledge in Word, QuickBooks, and Excel. This position will also support the Community Relations & Communications Coordinator with the church's interface with outside groups and the greater community. This Week

This Sunday, the Adult Discussion Group will focus on the gospel lesson of Matthew 28:16-20, “The Great Commission”. How do you understand the Trinity? Do you find it easier to understand, or pray to, one part of it? Join us in the Asbury Room at 11:15am after worship!

Our Sunday, June 4th, 10:00 a.m. service will feature the Wesley Ringers with Mike Maguire, keyboard performing the hymn, Come, Ye Thankful People Come, arranged by Larry Sue, The Covenant Choir and Ukulele Orchestra performing Over the Rainbow by Harold Arlen, and our CUMC Choral Scholars performing Rainbow by Kacey Musgraves. Join us! 


The Ukulele Orchestra will next meet in-person and online Saturday, June 3rd at 10:00 a.m. in the Asbury Room and on Zoom. For more information contact, Peter Hill, music director at petepiano@mac.com.

Community Updates


The Chatham Schools Art Department created handmade ramekins and sold them for $5 at the School District Art show raised $500 for the CUMC Food Pantry! We are thankful for their creativity and and thoughtfulness.

Jim Pinaire is one of our key volunteers on Wednesday afternoons in the Chatham Community Food Distribution here at CUMC, and an ongoing supporter of the Chatham UMC Food Pantry. He and his wife Joan have invited our greater community to a fundraiser done in the memory of their son Jamie Pinaire. Blessings to you Jim and Joan in your good work! Faith Formation Matters

Faith Formation (Sunday School) takes place on Sunday mornings at 11:15 until noon for Kindergarteners and up!


Whirl Kids (K - 4th grade), led by Edie Myers-Arnold and Kate Radler, meets in Room 6 and includes Singing and Signing with Mr. Peter Hill, a fun video, crafts and activities, all based on the Bible reading used in that day's Worship Service.


Middle School (5th-8th grade), led by Pastor Sharon meets in the Library for growing in faith and community though sharing, Bible reading, discussion, activities, and prayer. 


High School Discussion – Sundays at 11:1am

Current Masking Status & Links

The CUMC Church Council has voted unanimously to follow the CDC Covid Data tracker for Morris County to evaluate weekly Covid levels. This tracker is used to guide us in determining our indoor mask usage for all CUMC functions. Covid levels and recommendations are updated weekly on Thursday nights by the CDC. These updates will be used at CUMC from Friday-Friday and will state if masks required (high level) or optional (medium/low). You may check to see what the current Morris County Covid levels are prior to coming by clicking below.
