GLORIOUS (FRENCH) FOOD FOCUS WEEK

Monday, May 23–Friday, May 27

Our popular Glorious Food Focus Week needs volunteers and chaperones to make it a delicious success. A fun and tasty experience for everyone!
  • Monday and Tuesday, May 23–24: French bakery restaurant, L’experience Paris on Mercer Island. We need two chaperones.
  • Wednesday, May 25: Lunch at PCC, Bellevue. Two chaperones needed.
  • On Thursday and Friday, May 26–27: Theo Chocolate Factory and PCC, Seattle. Three chaperones needed for this field trip.

NOMINATIONS FOR ISPTSA OFFICERS

"My kids are settled at International School, and I am ready to put some effort into the PTSA.” 

We hear that statement from many parents, and it is so welcome. As we start our process this month of talking with potential candidates, we encourage anyone with an interest in business, web communications, internet, community building, or finances to participate by emailing nominations@isptsa.org.

ISPTSA 2021–2022 SCHOLARSHIPS

WIN A PRIZE FOR SPIRIT WEEK!

Get ready to show off your Titan pride THIS week, April 25–29, by participating on the following days:
  • Monday: Pajama Day. Bring the comfort of your bed to school by coming dressed in your PJs. If you want, you can even bring a stuffed animal or blanket :).
  • Tuesday: Sports Day. Rep your favorite sports team by wearing a jersey, hat, scarf, or any accessory that shows off your fan pride. If you don’t have gear, you can even bring equipment for your favorite sport!
  • Wednesday: Color Day. Wear your assigned color to match with the rest of your grade during the spirit assembly! Seniors, make sure to wear your senior sweats.
  • 12: black ️
  • 11: white
  • 10: blue
  • 9:  pink
  • 8: green
  • 7: red
  • 6: purple
  • Staff: yellow 
  • Thursday: Adam Sandler Day. Dress like this fashion icon by wearing XXL shirts and shorts that go to your knees. If you need some inspiration, Mr. Sandler has a lot of pictures online!
  • Friday: College Day. Wear any college gear to represent your favorite school, where your parents went, where your siblings go, or even where YOU hope to go. Seniors, if you have committed, make sure to wear gear for the school you will be attending in the fall!

Your participation is important! Every morning, your first-period teacher will count how many students dressed up and will email the number to our ASB advisor. At the end of the week, we will tally up all the points and the winning grade will receive a prize! For questions, email ASB Advisor, Matt Lyon.
TERRIFIC TITAN VOLUNTEER

International School wishes to recognize volunteer Vasuki Seshadri. Vasuki has tirelessly volunteered his time and astronomy expertise to Cheryl McClure’s 7th-grade science class. He visits regularly, assists students with planning and writing their Cubes in Space experiments and proposals, and has inspired our science students for over seven years. Many thanks to Vasuki! AP EXAMS  

Monday, May 2–Friday, May 13

Whether you’re taking your first AP exam or your last, it’s likely still your first in-person AP exam. Detailed information with locations will be emailed and posted on our website by today, April 25Even if you’re NOT testing, you’ll still be affected as some hallways and rooms will be closed to provide a quiet testing environment.
  • Tests begin Monday, May 2. Log into MyAP for your test dates.
  • Report times are 7:30 AM for morning exams and 12:30 PM for afternoon exams. Arrive on time with photo ID, water, and a snack.
  • Locations vary. Most will be either in the IS library or offsite at the Wilburton Instructional Service Center (WISC) Rainier Room located at 12241 Main Street, Bellevue. 10th-grade AP World History will be at International School. Chinese, French, and Japanese will be at WISC-Rainier.

IEP 101 VIRTUAL PARENT WORKSHOP

BSD BOARD OF DIRECTORS ENCOURAGES MASK-WEARING

The Board of Directors of the Bellevue School District strongly encourages continued mask-wearing inside our school buildings and expresses gratitude and appreciation for all those who are able to and who continue to mask inside our school buildings through the end of the school year. HEALTH & SAFETY UPDATES: RETURNING FROM SPRING BREAK

The District Health and Safety Team shared a message to families about how to keep COVID-19 transmission low in schools using layered protection measures after returning from Spring Break. As a reminder, please keep your student home if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 and follow the K-12 Return to School Guidance Flowsheet. BSD OFFERS SCHOOL-DAY SAT FOR 2022–2023

Bellevue School District will offer an opportunity for juniors and seniors to take the SAT during the school day in the 2022–2023 school year to ensure access to the exam for all students. On Wednesday, October 12, 2022, ‘Super Wednesday,’ juniors will have an opportunity to take the PSAT/NMSQT. The school-day SAT for seniors will be scheduled on ‘Super Wednesday,’ October 12, 2022. LEADERS OF TODAY NW COMPETITION

Interested in STEM or Community/Civic Leadership? The 2022 Leaders of Today Competition, hosted by the Leaders of Today non-profit, is perfect for you. We accept either a 500-word response or a 12 minute video from participants from around the world. The winners will get the opportunity to directly collaborate with our Adult Ambassadors, who range from professors to CEOs to elected representatives. BELLEVUE PTSA COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year, Bellevue PTSA Council offers twelve $1000-scholarships to seniors representing each high school in BSD:
  • The Alice Hurd Memorial Scholarship recognizes outstanding community service and rewards one student from each high school with a $1000 scholarship.
  • The Bellevue PTSA Council Scholarship rewards the academic excellence of one graduating senior from each high school.

CONGRATULATIONS, TITAN ROBOTICS!

Since 2001, Titan Robotics Club (TRC) has continued to inspire, teach, and empower students through STEM. A part of FIRST, TRC allows students from 6th to 12th-grade to take part in building robots for competitions while learning new skills. Watch a clip from a recent competition!

TRC Achievements 20212022:
  • FRC: Became finalists at the PNW Sammamish event and went to Districts! Our FRC 20212022 season has ended, and though we were not able to move on to the World Championship, we were able to meet more teams and learn from our experiences. We look forward to next year's season! 
  • FTC: Won the Design Award, Semi-Finalists at Interleague
  • FLL: One team won the Core Award.

Submit a Legislative Issue Proposal! The window for submitting a proposal for consideration at the 2022 Legislative Assembly is now open. The online form is due May 27 and supporting documents are due by June 1. Click here for details and links.

HIGH SCHOOL COMMUNITY SERVICE HELPING SUMMER ART CAMPS
 
Art Camp ‘Go-Go with Van Gogh’ at Kelsey Creek Farm needs volunteers to assist instructors for weekly summer camps. Activities include drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media, and sketching. Here is a description of the art camp. Volunteers commit to one-week beginning June 27, July 5, July 11, July 18, August 8, and August 15, and hours are Monday to Friday, 9:15 AM3:15 PM. You must be 15 years or older, follow directions, have a friendly positive attitude, and enjoy being with children 610 years. Responsibilities include passing out supplies, cleaning up, and playing with campers at recess. We're Back in Person This Summer! UW Youth & Teen Programs has a variety of hands-on, in-person classes at UW Seattle for students entering the fourth to twelfth grade.
