We are delighted to announce that Nina Davis has accepted our offer to join our Bethel staff as our new Church Office Manager. She will begin officially in June.

Welcome to the family Nina!
Take them a meal
John and Brenda Adair
As a community of faith we value being there for each other when times are difficult. John Adair has recently been diagnosed with a small cell carcinoma and is receiving chemo every two weeks.

We are putting together a meal train for them every week over the next six weeks. If you are able to help them in this way at this time, please click on the link below. All information is provided there.

Thanks again for being support for each other!

WING-A-THON
Fundraiser for ALS/Bethel Youth Ministry

Our youth group will be participating in a WING-A-THON on Sunday, June 5 at Bufffalo Wild Wings. Several youth, Mel Siebert, and Pastor Dave have accepted the challenge of eating a designated number of wings (varies among participants) and will be seeking sponsorship for their efforts to raise funds for ALS in honor of our Bethel high school youth minister, Mel Siebert.

Each person is attempting to raise $1 per wing eaten. Please look for more information this week about how you can support this very meaningful and fun experience.

You can make a per wing pledge

BETHEL ADAPTING UPDATE

BRAINSTORMING - DISCERNING - DISCOVERING
In 2012, Bethel offered an intentional time of congregational discernment called Bethel Becoming. Five years later, in 2017, we began another intentional time of congregational discernment called Bethel Reforming. Now, five years later in 2022, we are inviting you to come together again as a congregation for a time of discernment that we are calling Bethel Adapting.

Sunday, May 15 Update: Wow! What a great initial gathering of Bethel Adapting! We were able to explore some new ideas in our UP, IN, and OUT catagories as well as brainstorm some potential income streams for the congregation. We are very excited about this time of energy and renewal.

Mark you calendars for our next two gatherings:
Sunday, June 19
&
Sunday, July 17

We will begin considering "next steps" on many of our new ideas at our June and July meetings.

Look for more information on our website about how you see what has already been shared and how you can offer additional ideas/thoughts, especially if you were unable to be with us on May 15.
Power in the Spirit
July 14-16
Roanoke College

Every year our Synod offers a Synod-wide Christian Education event called Power in the Spirit. It includes learning sessions and worship and fellowship. It is held every year at Roanoke College. Our very own George Donovan has been leading the music for 10 years now.

This it is being held in conjunction with the "Synod Gathering" (which is in place of the Assembly this year). Everyone is welcome to attend.

We'd like to offer a special invitation to our Bethel family because not only will we celebrate the 10 years that George has given to this wonderful ministry, but on Friday evening, at the Festival Worship service, Bethel member Bruce Lothrop will be commissioned as part of the first class of graduates from the Virginia Synod Lay Preaching Academy, of which Pastor Dave is a leader.

You can find out more by downloading the booklet and schedule below and you can register as well with the Registration link below. We will have information available at Bethel each week as well on the hospitality table.

Parish Nurse Notes
May is Mental Health Awareness month and our parish nurse, Edie McGoff has shared some very important information and resources with us.
