Rondout Coronavirus Update- Week of 10/11/22
Late this week we learned that we have one COVID positive case. The individual will be completing their isolation/ quarantine in alignment with the revised guidelines from the Illinois Department of Public Health. To prevent further spread of the disease, Rondout continues to take the following steps:
· Ongoing monitoring of students and staff for signs and symptoms of illness and evaluation of reports of illness to promptly identify possible outbreaks.
· Conducting a deep clean and disinfection of the areas impacted by potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus.
· Students and staff who exhibit COVID-like symptoms at school will promptly be placed in a separate supervised area away from others until they can be sent home.
· We are continuously sanitizing high-touch surfaces including door handles, stair rails, sink, faucets, etc. and classrooms are cleaned and sanitized nightly. Air sanitizers are also running in all classrooms and offices in the building.
We are encouraging good hand hygiene and hand sanitizer is freely available in all classrooms and common areas of the school.
We understand your concern about the identity of individuals who test positive so students or staff can assess their possibility of exposure. However, federal privacy laws prevent administration or the school district from providing any information that would otherwise lead to the identification of these individuals.
We will continue to keep you updated on the status of COVID cases at Rondout in the days ahead. Due to the size of our school, we ask that you assist in monitoring for symptoms and keep students who are ill at home. Those with COVID symptoms will need to provide a negative test result and be symptom free to return to school. Rapid testing and PCR testing is available through our health office with parental permission. Close contacts will not be required to quarantine and may continue to attend school unless they become symptomatic or test positive.
