New at the Library!

Self-Checkout has Arrived

Library users can now check out their own library books! No need to wait in line if you are rushing in to pick up books. All you need is your library card (or 14-digit number) and your PIN. The Self-Checkout Station is located in the Mill Street lobby and a second terminal will arrive at Alder shortly.

This is a convenient option for some, but if you would rather have our friendly staff help you, they will be ready at the service desk.

Makerspace Blog

The planning is underway for the new Makerspace that will be located at the Alder Street Recreation Centre. Raghav Patel, the library's Makerspace Specialist, will be writing a regular blog to update you on our process as we transform an empty room into a magical place of creation.

If you have any ideas or questions, you can reach Raghav at rpatel@orangeville.ca .

Children at Play

Community Scanning Day

Drop into the Alder Library between 5 and 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18 to share your memories and become a part of Dufferin's history!

Laura and Mary from the Museum of Dufferin will be on hand to collect digital scans of community photographs to include in an upcoming exhibition on children and play. Community members will leave with their original photograph, leaving only a digitized copy with the MoD Archival collection.

Photos can be both historic and modern - MoD wants to see moments you have captured of kids being kids - playing sports, with toys, friends, family, on playgrounds and more.

You can also meet Raghav Patel, the library's Makerspace Specialist, who will be demonstrating and speaking to some of the library's new digitization equipment that can help families keep hold of all their memories. This equipment is just the beginning of the exciting new tech we will offer the community.
