STRONG School Pledges

WCA students begin Chapel with three pledges every Wednesday morning. The beautiful sound of voices of all ages saying the pledge to the American flag, Christian flag, and the Bible in unison creates a strong reminder of what we stand for every week.

Uniform Swap & Sip

May 23 | After carpool at 8:20am

You are invited to WCA's Uniform Swap & Sip. Parents of current and future 2022-23 students will gather after carpool for coffee and swap uniforms. The event will take place in the Youth Center parking lot. You do not need to have uniforms to participate. This is a swap, NOT a sale. Don't forget to bring a bag to take home your new, gently used uniforms!

• Kindergarten at 8:30am in the Multi-Purpose Room

End of Year Reminders

The end of the school year is approaching quickly, and we want to remind you of a few important things as we wind down the school year with the last day on Wednesday, May 25th. Also, please be sure to read your child's Teacher Newsletter for any special information regarding the last day of school.

• Report cards and IOWA test scores will be mailed in June.
• 22-23 Supply Lists and Summer Reading Lists will be posted on our website under Parent Resources in June.
• Return all library books. A fee may be incurred for lost books.
• Check if you have any outstanding balances by logging in Family Portal. Per the WCA Family Handbook page 6, academic records may be withheld if there is any debt.
• Medication held at the front desk needs picked up by a parent. We are not allowed to send medication home with students. All medication will be discarded if not picked up by May 27^th.

Summer Library

The WCA library will be open this summer from 10 am to 12 pm on the dates listed below. This opportunity is ideal for WCA families to keep students reading throughout the summer. Ms. Worcester has prepared a fun program with storytelling for all ages and a book jacket design project. We hope you will come enjoy this opportunity to visit the school during the break and keep our hawks STRONG in READING!

Mark your calendars for the summer PTF meeting. All parents are welcome to attend and help plan for the 2022-23 school year.

Hunger Doesn't

Take a Vacation

Classes are finishing. Students are graduating. Vacations are planned. But hunger doesn't stop! Please join Weddington Church in collecting breakfast and lunch items for the Union County Shelter's Food Pantry. The Shelter serves over 80 hungry people three meals a day, every day. They also have two drive-thru food pickups each month for those in need. 

Donations will be collected on Sunday, May 15, and Sunday, May 22, in Helms Hall and the Family Life Center bins. The most needed items include cereal, grits, oatmeal, peanut butter, jelly, tuna, soup, and individual bags of chips.

Showcase & Shindig!

We had fun celebrating together as the school year comes to an end! And what a fantastic way to say Happy Birthday to WCA #wca20STRONG!

SUMMER BINGO CARD!

If you missed the Shindig or did not get a chance to pick up a Summer Bingo card, CLICK HERE to print a copy at home. There will be a small PRIZE for students who complete the Bingo when they return to school in the fall. We want everyone to have the opportunity to participate in this FUN SUMMER ACTIVITY!

Third Grade Living History Day

On May 17, 2022, the third grade students shared their informational displays on the historical figures that they researched. They were all assigned this project two months ago because it was a really big project for almost the entire school to see. The third-grade students dressed up as their historical characters and presented their projects to multiple people.
