Congratulations to our Best of Broadway tickets winners, Donna Alexander and David Babinski!

Donna and David each win a pair of tickets to one of this weekend’s shows at the Veteran’s Hall. Thanks to everyone who entered!
Susanville’s Best of Broadway is preparing for the final weekend of shows which include a cast of hundreds, gorgeous production values, stunning directorial prowess, and lots of fun music at the Veterans Memorial Hall.

This year’s Home Again at the Veterans Hall shows will feature pieces from a variety of musicals including The Greatest Showman, Frozen, Sweet Charity, Hamilton, Beetlejuice, Oklahoma and Shrek.

Regular performances are scheduled for March 9th, at 6:00p.m., March 11th, at 7:00p.m., March 12th, at 2:00 and 7:00p.m.

Tickets are available now at Margie’s Book Nook, Zaengles Floor and Home and the Lassen County Chamber office.

Chief Cochran Releases Susanville
Crime Statistics for February
Officers from the Susanville Police Department responded to nearly 1,000 incidents in the month of February according to statistics released Thursday by Police Chief Ryan Cochran.

340 calls for service, 571 officer initiated checks, 461 business and building checks and seven vehicle and pedestrian checks comprised the 911 incidents logged by the department during the month.

Officers issued 61 citations: no infractions, fifteen misdemeanors, thirty-five traffic violations and eleven parking violations.
Officer reports totaled ninety-nine, with a variety of reasons for the report being filed.

There were a total of twenty-three misdemeanor and three felony arrests.

It’s almost that time of year again! “Cowboy Boots and Country Roots!” The Lassen County Fair Office is seeking entries for our 2022 fair. We have created a simple entry form for teachers and students to enter projects! Projects range from woodworking, art, science, history, holiday or even creative writing or poetry! The fair will pick up your entries the deadline is May 30th. See Kelli for more information.

AP Exam payments must be made before you can take the AP exams. Please pay ASAP.

Seniors, deadlines for scholarships are approaching please be aware of deadlines and return locations. If you have any questions, please come by the counseling office.
Transportation Commission Seeking Community Input on Active Transportation Plan
The Lassen County Transportation Commission is currently working to complete an Active Transportation Plan. The goal of the ATP is to provide strategies that better support bicycling and walking throughout the county. Your input makes a difference in shaping the future of your community and LCTC wants to hear what you think.
Active Transportation refers to human forms of travel such as walking and biking. The plan will identify projects designed to promote more walking and biking in the county. For example, designated bicycle lanes and paths or eliminating gaps in the sidewalk network.

Your voice does matter, and you are invited to share stories of share stories of crashes, near misses or places you fell safe or unsafe travelling in Lassen County. You can leave your stories at this website.

There will be two open houses to discuss the Transportation Plan, one at the Westwood Depot Visitor Center, March 30th from 4:30 to 6:00p.m., and at the Susanville Railroad Depot on Richmond Road from 4:30 to 6:00p.m. on March 31st.

Visitors Inspect New Susanville Industry

Today the Lassen Hatchery held open house. Visitors were shown the processes through which eggs must go to reach the incubator, and the period of 21 days it takes for the chick to break through its shell; and view the premises and see the breeding stocks in the yards.

The hatchery, located at 133 Russell avenue and operated by Max and Emmet McCarthy, is a new industry in this county.

Their output is 2,000 baby chicks a week and a ready market is found in local producers.
