An academic bilingual community fostering global citizenship
From the Principal
April 28, 2022

Dear Park Spanish Immersion Elementary School Community:

I hope that you have had a great week! I am so excited to watch our fourth graders participate in the Elders' Wisdom program tonight! I am grateful to our "elders" for sharing their wisdom with us, and a huge thanks to our staff members for their support. Please see below for more information.

COVID Face Covering Update
We anticipate that face covering as a mitigation strategy will be optional starting next Monday, May 2 at PSI. As you know, aligned with School Board Policy 808, we are currently requiring face coverings for students, staff, and visitors because we exceeded the 5% positive COVID threshold in our school community of staff and students during the week beginning at 12:00 a.m on Monday, April 11, and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, which required face coverings until Sunday, May 1, 2022.

During the week beginning at 12:00 a.m on Monday, April 18, and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, our COVID positive rate was 2.5% for staff and students, and as of sending this message today, our COVID positive rate is 1.3% for the week of Monday, April 25 to Sunday, May 1. We will send a phone blast on Sunday evening confirming actions for Monday.

As always, thank you for sharing your children with us.

Take care!

Sincerely,

Corey

STEP: St. Louis Park Emergency Program
STEP remains committed to providing a safe environment for clients, volunteers, and staff while still fulfilling our mission of helping our St. Louis Park neighbors in need during the Pandemic. We have continued to distribute food, resources, rental assistance, toys, school supplies, and more in great numbers to our clients throughout the pandemic. As we brace for this next wave, STEP has taken extra safety measures to ensure that our neighbors have the resources to meet their basic needs. STEP staff are working remotely 50% of the time to limit exposure-this may impact our response time and we appreciate your patience with us. STEP remains closed for in-person shopping, and appointment-based curbside food pickups remain in effect.

We request that donations be dropped off at either Knollwood and West End Cubs at any time or at Vista Lutheran, ELCA on Tuesdays (until 5pm) and Saturdays (until 3pm). We appreciate your support and understanding during this uncertain time.

Learn about how STEP is safely providing food to neighbors during the pandemic and how you can be involved. Check out stepslp.org or contact the Volunteer Coordinator, sarah@stepslp.org.
