“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.

John 17:1-7

The world recognizes the best of the best in the categories they love. Some are glorified for their acting, others for their singing, and still others for their athletic prowess. Who wouldn’t want to be glorified in their craft, honored in their specific field? The winner of the Oscars stands on the stage, and the winner of the Olympic event stands on the podium, so they can be seen and glorified.

Jesus Christ asked to be glorified. Jesus prays “Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.” At first blush, it seems arrogant, cocky, and even self-centered. Did Jesus really ask that? Remarkably, Jesus was not asking for himself, he was asking for us. Jesus knew what would happen, Jesus knew what being glorified would look like, and he did it for you.

The Apostle Paul said “All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23). We have fallen short of Glory because of our sins. But the Apostle Paul was not done. … “and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” (Romans 3:24)

Remarkably, Jesus was held up, on display, so he could be seen by everyone. Yes, against all human reason, Jesus’ glory was the cross. The sacrifice was made and the curse of sin was crushed forever for you. To Jesus be the glory forever and ever. AMEN!

Sunday, we celebrate God's Glory and conclude our series The Tomb is Still Empty. I can’t wait!

PRAYER:

Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. (Hebrews 13:20-21)

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Getting to know the people of Grace Fellowship

Meet the Eckert Family:

Jesse, Natalie, Malachi & Jace!

I first met Natalie when some women of Grace Fellowship and Gracious Savior went to a women's ministry event in Denver together a few years ago and I'm so blessed to know her more. Natalie helps Pastor Austin with the Monday morning Castle Peak church service as she is their Life Enrichment Director. She loves to attend our Women's Gatherings and also is one of the great volunteers that serve in our Grace Nursery on Sunday mornings.

She and her husband, Jesse, have twin boys (one of the many sets of twins that we have here at GF), Malachi and Jace, that are finishing up kindergarten. Natalie's parents, Kayla & Jerry, and her sister Jen are also a part of the Grace Fellowship family.

How long have you lived in the valley?

Natalie moved to Eagle in 2013. Jesse grew up here and also in South Carolina.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

We enjoy rafting, rodeos, camping, golfing, skiing, snowmobiling, razor riding, traveling, and relaxing at home in the hot tub.

Share something fun about yourself that we might not already know.

Our family runs the Friday Night Rodeo Summer Series at the Eagle County Fairgrounds! The first one is June 2nd! Come check it out!

Prayers

LORD JESUS, HEAL OUR LAND, OUR BODIES, AND OUR HEARTS.

Please pray for. . .

  • John Kirchner, who was diagnosed with cancer. Lord, we ask that you surround him and Doris with an amazing and caring medical team and the love of those around them to support them on this journey. We ask that you heal John's body according to your will.

  • Oliver, to continue to make progress in his health recovery. We pray for complete restoration for this little boy.

  • Rachel's unborn baby who is very small at this stage of development. Lord, we pray for the baby to continue to grow and for he or she to be born healthy and strong.

  • Hope in Jesus to rise within our valley and our world for the many hurting people out there. Help us to continue to shine the Light in the darkness, share the Good News with others, and minister to those around us.

  • Carol Proffitt, who has been sick and is homebound, and her daughter Pam who is caring for her. Grant them peace and comfort.

  • everyone in our congregation and their families who are dealing with the pains and trials of cancer and other illnesses including Todd Purse; Connie Kerr; Keith; Chris; Sharon Hlavinka; Rance Ketterling; Darlee, Amanda; Jerry Wiisanen; Rosemarie; April; Suzanne, Mary's sister-in-law; Bonnie Lamotta; Mark Von Soosten, Aaron, and Ryan.
