We acknowledge we are on the traditional land of the Abenaki people.
Dear Readers,
May is a celebratory month, don't you think? Spring, motherhood, graduation, renewal and rebirth, and Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month. Discover new and upcoming titles written by AANHPI authors and peruse our catalog for more recommendations HERE!
Congratulations to the 2021 Vermont Book Award Nominees! Established in 2014 by Vermont College of Fine Arts, the Vermont Book Award is a literary prize that honors work of outstanding literary merit by Vermont authors and celebrates the long tradition of literature in the state. We've labeled the winners from the three categories of nominations in Creative Nonfiction, Fiction, and Poetry.
Hats off to our 2022 graduates! Let us help you strike a balance between fun gifts and self-motivational goodies for the new graduate in your life to make them feel more at home in the world on their new journey.
Calling all kids! Grab some paper and something to draw with!
Join us for a reading and drawing lesson with Eisner Award-winning cartoonist James Kochalka who returns with another uproariously funny caper for Banana Fox to sniff out in Banana Fox and the Gummy Monster Mess. Register for the event HERE. Oopsie Doo!
As the weather warms up, we can't help but look forward to start on our ever-growing to-be-read piles. There's nothing better than finding a perfect spot in the shade outdoors to dive into a new book. Also, stay tuned for our children's Summer Reading Program. We were blown away by the participation in last year's Camp Phoenix program, and we can't wait to fill you in on all the exciting new details next month!
With Gratitude,

This month, Phoenix Books was honored to support a Vermont Business Roundtable breakfast with economic and social policy expert Heather McGhee who spoke about her book, The Sum of Us. That same evening, by serendipity, community group Voices for Inclusion in Essex and Westford (VIEW) held a discussion about The Sum of Us. We are honored VIEW chose us as their partner for community book discussions.

"This memoir will leave you in tears, no H Mart necessary. Zauner's voice is blunt and cathartic, in crystalline harmony with the ineffable truths of loveliness and loss. An unmatched book, worth every praise."
--Caroline, Essex.

"Why do I love Rhodia Classic Notepads? Because of the paper: 80 sheets of 80g/m2 acid-free, pH neutral, extra white paper. Exceptionally smooth satin finish. Micro-perforated pages. Pale violet lines, graph, or dots. Scored cover. Stiff back. Very fountain pen friendly!"
--Phil, Burlington.
*Rhodia notepads are available in our Burlington and Essex shops.
