Student senate provides free menstrual products for UNMC students

The UNMC Student Senate now is providing free menstrual products on campus for UNMC students.

After a proposal, co-sponsored by five College of Medicine senators, was passed in March, the senators teamed up with the UNMC Department of Facilities Management and Planning to get menstrual dispensers ordered and installed. For about $2,000 a year, the student senate will provide products to more than 700 students.

Graduate Students: Conference Attendance Scholarships Are Now Available for 2022-2023

Two new types of scholarships are now available from the UNMC Graduate Studies Office to facilitate graduate students’ ability to attend conferences. The numbers of scholarships are limited, so applying soon (even if the conference is later in the academic year) is recommended. Click the link in the announcement title for information about the scholarships. Applications now open for Tech Transfer Boot Camp 2022

The 2022 Technology Transfer Boot Camp will be held Aug. 8-12. Tech Transfer Boot Camp is aimed at scientists and students interested in what it takes to commercialize a new invention or discovery. The week-long event can also jump-start an alternate career in science as a technology transfer professional.

The program helps scientists gain a wide range of skills and experience that match their scientific knowledge and training. Applications are open through July 31, and will be reviewed in the order they are received until all spaces are filled.

Wellness Through Doing - Charcuterie Boards 101: 12pm-1pm

Come learn about charcuterie boards! This session will show you how to make a charcuterie board for the 4th of July. CJ Crouch will demonstrate his personal tips and tricks that will wow your friends and family during the holiday BBQ!

Friday, June 17

Gospel Fest - Juneteenth Celebration: 11am-2pm

This year, Gospel Fest will feature singing, dancing and spoken word performances, as well as a cello solo until 12:30 p.m. The expo, which will feature demos from local community organizations such as Omaha’s A Step Above, will begin at 12:30 p.m. and run until 2 p.m.
