NO MEMBERSHIP FEES FOR 2023-2024!

CETA passionately believes that all students and educators throughout the state should be able to partake in its vast network of educational resources and opportunities. The board of directors has therefore decided to waive membership fees for all California theatre educators for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. If you have any questions regarding this new policy, or if you know of any CA theatre educators who may be interested in joining the CETA community, the membership committee will be happy to chat.

We are looking for members-at-large for a 2-year term. Join us to help plan and implement the High School Theatre Festival, our Teacher Conference, our advocacy day Stand Up 4 Arts, our NorCal Middle Stage Festival, and more.

Music Center: SPOTLIGHT 2024!
|
|
Southern California high school students of ALL skill levels are encouraged to apply for FREE. The Music Center's Spotlight is a scholarship competition and artistic development program, which empowers students by emphasizing preparation, confidence, critical thinking, and perseverance while providing an invaluable opportunity for students to hone their audition and performance skills! The Music Center's Spotlight awards over $100,000 in cash SCHOLARSHIPS to students each year!
CATEGORIES: Ballet • Dance • Acting • Classical Instrumental • Classical Voice • Jazz
Instrumental • Non-Classical Voice • Contemporary Instrumental Music
By applying to Spotlight, students get the opportunity to:
- Develop and strengthen audition, presentation, and performance skills

The Educational Theatre Association's Theatre Education Conference is the ultimate professional development event for theatre educators. Attendees enjoy stimulating workshops and training opportunities, inspiring entertainment, optional intensives, and networking with fellow teachers who experience the same classroom joys and challenges.

Connected Arts Network (CAN) Project
|
|
This professional learning community is a great way to meet other theatre teachers across the nation to work together in PLCs to discuss pedagogy, practice, and collaborate on resources! (especially for those who may feel like they are on an island of their own!)
EdTA's CAN project focuses on rich professional development for educators through professional learning communities focused on teacher practice, leadership and agency across three areas:
- Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
- Social and Emotional Learning
- Educator Leadership
The CAN grant project is aligned with the EdTA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategic Plan and recent work to build an SEL Lesson Plan Library model lesson plan embedded with SEL instruction. Click below for more information or to APPLY!

Stand Up 4 Arts Education - April 30, 2024
|
|
On April 30, CETA will join with CMEA (Music Educators), CDEA (Dance Educators) and CAEA (Art Educators) to present Stand Up 4 Arts Education Day at the State Capitol in Sacramento. Stand Up 4 Arts Education Day will include student performances and legislative visits, with CETA workshops in Acting and Advocacy the evening before, April 29. Stay tuned with ways to participate in this statewide Arts Advocacy Day.
