Baby Health Clinic Update

Bridget Stanley

May 2023

Grampa is now caregiver of this precious little babe.

Our Nutrition Program

We see so many children come in as a result of a devastating event in their homes and villages; the mother has passed away, the mother is gravely ill; the mother is no longer able to produce milk due to malnutrition or sometimes, because “life” is so difficult, the mothers just run away. These little babies have no say in the matter. They survive by the grace of God as they receive life-giving milk and tender loving care from this program and staff.

What’s new? We are weaving our Public Health program into our Nutrition Program, that we may more fully bring the gospel into areas that have been hard hit by cholera, malaria, general tropical diseases and malnutrition. Currently, we are cross-training one of our staff for this new venture, and it is exciting to see the enthusiasm of everyone involved.

Marta, one of our dedicated Mozambican staff who has tirelessly worked to maintain the Nutrition Program during many difficult seasons, including Covid.

Discharge Meetings

We come together as a team to talk about discharge policies, so we can better follow-up with the children that are discharged. If they fail to thrive upon discharge, they are re-admitted until they are stabilized and at a healthy weight.

Educating Care Givers

Since the babies caregiver has never used formula before we educate them on the appropriate amounts to prepare to give to the babies. We are also working to improve the Nutrition Program; tracking the progress of the children very closely and addressing needs of the children by looking at their nutrition intake and how that is reflected in their general health and well being.

We are busy here and it has been so fruitful! God is moving and we feel Him in the decisions we are making and the way we are seeing these babies develope and thrive!

Please join us in prayer:

  • Wisdom and discernment as we continue to integrate with the Public Health Program.

  • Health and wellbeing of all the children and care givers. We are still battling cholera in some areas.

  • Continued favor with local and national officials that we come in contact with; that they will feel the love of God as evidenced by our labors on behalf of the vulnerable children in our region.

Thank you for keeping us and this much needed program in your prayers!

God bless you!
