Registration Now Open: CSBG Roundtable and Measurement Tools Training

The Virginia CSBG office is looking forward to the Virtual VACAP Conference for June 2022. We have scheduled both our CSBG Roundtable and an Outcomes and Measurement Tools Training for the upcoming conference. Below you can learn more about the events and register.

CSBG Roundtable: June 21st - 1pm - 2:30pm

The CSBG Roundtable is an opportunity for the Virginia CSBG Office to share updates relevant to the Community Action Network. During the roundtable we will also be breaking out into small breakout rooms for peer discussion on relevant topic areas. The roundtable is open to any staff or board members who wish to participate. Outcomes and Measurement Tools: Part 1 - Getting down to the basics: June 23rd - 1pm-2:30pm

NASCSP will be presenting an interactive introduction to outcomes and measurement tools, this will be part 1 of a 2-part series. The session will cover why outcome measurement is important, types of measurement tools that can be used, and how to train staff on the importance of consistency in outcome measurement. There will be plenty of time for questions, so if you have tools you would like to share and discuss, bring them along! This session is open to any staff or board members who wish to participate. CSBG State Plan Public Comment Period Now Open

The CSBG State Plan is officially in the final public comment period phase. The public comment period will run from May 23, 2022- June 23, 2022. No comments were received in the 3rd agency only comment period which ended May 18th.

The only outstanding item in the State Plan is information regarding the State Plan Legislative Hearing, once the hearing is held we will be adding the agenda and notes into Section 4.

The CSBG Legislative Hearing will be held on July 12th at 2pm. We will be sending additional information and guidance regarding the hearing in the coming weeks.

Ensuring Equal Access to CAA Programs

CAPLAW issued a legal brief in January 2022 regarding Section 504. Section 504 is incorporated by reference in the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Act1 and applies to any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.2 It requires CAAs to ensure that people with disabilities enjoy the same opportunity as others to receive benefits and participate in programs offered by the CAA. Regional Convening on Community Level Work- Register Today!

A Save the Date describing the upcoming Region 3 RPIC Regional Convening to highlight community initiatives across our region focused on human capacity and community transformation is now available. The virtual event will take place on July 13 from 10am to 3:30pm and will feature best practices from local CAAs across the Maryland, District of Columbia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia region.
