An Update from the CMS Building Committee
Dear Cromwell Community Members,

We continue to progress through the town’s approval process for the proposed new middle school building.

Last week the Board of Finance approved a resolution to appropriate the funds needed to move forward with the proposed new Cromwell Middle School. Now the project goes to a Special Town Meeting, where all eligible Cromwell voters can vote on the project. This is the last step in the town approval process for the project to be approved and submitted to the State of Connecticut grant process.

The town meeting is Thursday, June 2 at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall gym. A presentation about the project will be given and there will be an opportunity for the public to ask questions. Please note that if a petition for referendum with 200 verified signatures is submitted 24 hours before the town meeting, then the project will go to referendum and there will NOT be a vote at the special town meeting.

Eligible Cromwell voters would then vote on the project at the referendum. The referendum date will be announced at the special town meeting and take place on a date from June 9 to June 16. Polls would be open for at least eight hours, and voting would likely take place at Cromwell High School. This information will be posted to the Town of Cromwell and Building Committee’s websites.
