The latter part of our Community Conversation on Civics focuses on New Hampshire's current civic health, rosy nostalgic perceptions of past civic health, and how we might get back on a more cooperative, productive track in days to come.

Join us as we investigate how citizens can and should work together to solve public problems. Our series of programs will include book discussions, trivia, events in partnership with the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College and the Geisel Library at Saint Anselm College, along with empowering explorations and conversations about how we the people can and should steer the ship of our democracy.
There will be programs for adults, teens, and kids, including:

  • Ultimate iCivics BINGO Bonanza on 3/3 at 9am for grades 5-12 in the second floor teen space.

  • Saturday Story Time on 3/19 at 9:30am, theme is Community Helpers, for families with children up through grade 5.

  • & more!

Community Conversations: Civil Discourse about Education
Thursday, April 7 at 7pm

Blaming, name-calling, and petty attacks. If this sounds like a School Board meeting, we all have a problem. What is this divisive talk around education and public schools all about? How can we have discussions about what is being taught in our schools without devolving into name-calling and innuendo?

During this 90-minute workshop, learn some tips on how to engage in productive civil discourse from community member James McKim, managing partner of Organizational Ignition and president of the Manchester NAACP. Then put those tips into practice concerning education in Goffstown in a facilitated community conversation.
