Dear Normandale Families,

Recent data shows that COVID cases continue to go down in the Edina community. Starting the week of April 4, all PreK-12 schools will return to typical lunchroom operations. At Normandale all students will be able to eat in the cafeteria regardless of school or home lunch. Students will be seated by classroom at tables, but will not have specific assigned seats at these tables. While all students are welcome to eat in the Normandale cafeteria, we will continue to offer lunch in the auditorium for students and families that prefer more physical distancing and for students following the Test to Stay COVID protocol.

As Edina’s schools resume normal lunchroom operations, we are hopeful that COVID cases will remain low. Please see the procedures below for keeping asymptomatic students in school if a COVID exposure does occur at Normandale.

NOTIFICATION: The Normandale office will notify families via voicemail that there was a COVID exposure in their student’s classroom. This voicemail will direct families to check their email for exposure details and next steps.

ALL FAMILIES: Monitor their student for COVID symptoms.

FULLY VACCINATED STUDENTS: Families of students that have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine do not need to fill out the COVID Exposure Options Form found in the COVID exposure email. These students can attend school while families monitor their student for COVID symptoms.

ALL OTHER STUDENTS: Families need to fill out the COVID Exposure Options Form. Unless the student has had COVID in the past 90 days, students have the option to quarantine or “Test to Stay.” Students that elect Test to Stay will need to:

  • Wear a well fitting mask when around others (including recess)
  • Physically distance from others when eating or drinking. Teachers will work with students to physically distance during snack. This may include staggered eating times or a designated snack spot (table, hallway, etc) For lunch, students will physically distance in the auditorium.
  • COVID test on dates specified by the Normandale Health Office. COVID tests will be sent home with students as needed.
  • Monitor for COVID symptoms

As with all things COVID, please contact our Health Services or Office Staff if you have questions.
