SPECIAL NEWS AND INFORMATION

Watauga Avenue and Covenant Presbyterian Churches teamed up for worship and Bible Study opportunities during Lent this year. This is a wonderful experience of shared leadership, shared hospitality, and shared Christian experience. Here are the details:
Bible Study
Led by Covenant’s pastor, Maggie Rust, and WAPC's interim pastor Sharon Amstutz this is a discussion-based Bible Study each Wednesday using Rachel Held Evans’ book Inspired as our foundation. To make the study accessible to all the study will be held both virtually and in-person each week. The final two weeks are forthcoming.
In person: 3:30 p.m.
In the spirit of true Christian fellowship, Covenant and WAPC will take turns hosting the in-person studies, and Maggie and I will take turns leading them.

NOTEWORTHY GREEN SPACE NEWS
|
In May the administration took a major step toward its goal of bringing online 30,000 megawatts of offshore wind power within this decade by formally approving the nation's first large-scale offshore wind farm. Vineyard Wind will consist of 62 wind turbines south of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, generating about 800 megawatts of electricity—enough to power some 400,000 homes. According to an energy analyst for the Union of Concerned Scientists, "This is a really important milestone for U. S. offshore wind, not only for this project, but also for the long line of others now in development. It signals the administration's firm commitment to scientific progress and clean energy job creation and is a promising sign for clean energy to come."
At least a dozen other East Coast offshore wind projects are now under federal review. By 2030 there could be as many as 2,000 turbines in federal waters off the US coast from Massachusetts to North Carolina.

C.S. Lewis: Images of His World
By Douglas R. Gilbert and Clyde S. Kilby
(B/LEW)
This reissue of a treasured classic offers a window into the people and places that shaped the life of beloved author, scholar, and apologist C. S. Lewis. In photographs and text (much of it in Lewis's own words), Douglas Gilbert and Clyde S. Kilby introduce us to such memorable friends as J. R. R. Tolkien and transport us to such magical places as the deer park outside Lewis's rooms at Magdalen College, Oxford.
We also meet Lewis as a talented and brilliant child in Belfast, captivated by the myths and legends of the North, already writing and illustrating imaginative stories and poems at a young age.
While the book includes an essay tracing Lewis's struggle to find faith and a chronology of his life, it is not a biography per se but rather a personal introduction, a composite portrait of a fascinating individual and the world in which he lived. Attractively laid out in a fresh new format, this volume will be prized both by longtime fans of Lewis and by those encountering him for the first time.

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)
Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
