Dear Avisery Members,

The federal government just announced that starting September 25, 2023, free at-home COVID tests will be available to order once again. Each U.S. household is eligible to order four tests via the official Covid.gov website. Tests will then be will be mailed directly to homes through USPS at no cost. An email address is not required to place an order unless the individual would like to receive shipping updates. The website also allows individuals who may have expired or soon to expire COVID tests at home to check if the expiration date for specific FDA-approved test has been extended.

This is great opportunity for individuals with Medicare to order tests at no cost. As a reminder, while Medicare does cover COVID lab tests when ordered by a doctor, it no longer covers over-the counter COVID tests since the public health emergency ended in May 2023.
