Continuing Education Requirements

ACVR’s Annual Meeting fulfils two types of requirements; one is an ACVR requirement and the other is for state veterinary medical licensure.

ACVR Meeting Requirements
  • Each ACVR Diplomate is required to attend one (1) ACVR every three years. For Diplomates of both ACVR and ECVDI, it is one meeting every four years as the Diplomate must also attend the ECVDI meeting.
  • To meet their meeting attendance requirement, a Diplomate may attend in person and/or use enduring materials (virtually).
  • Should a Diplomate need a meeting waiver, please contact the Executive Director (execdirector@acvr.org).

State Licensure Requirement
  • Diplomates with a license from a State Veterinary Medical Board are required to attend a state-determined number of continuing education hours. Some states limit the amount of CE hours that can be obtained virtually; that means some Diplomates must receive in-person CE, hopefully at the ACVR Annual meeting.
  • To learn more about your state’s specific requirements, check out this resource from DVM360.

ACVR Diplomate Peer Reviewers Needed for VRU

VRU peer reviewers with DI and RO expertise are essential for helping authors improve their manuscripts, helping Editors make more informed decisions, and helping to ensure that readers have access to information they can trust. This input is becoming increasingly important as public trust in scientific publications is being threatened by predatory publishers and paper mills. Because VRU is owned by ACVR, serving as peer reviewer for VRU counts as evidence you are recognized as an expert in your field and can also be used for MOC credit.

If you would be willing to serve as a VRU peer reviewer, please contact Jeri Jones at jerylj@clemson.edu.

View the Updated VRU Editor-in-Chief Job Listing

Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound is accepting applications for a new Editor-in-Chief. ACVR is looking for an individual or individuals with interest and experience in diagnostic imaging to lead the journal for our College and our affiliate organizations.

A recent ACVR Constitutional change expands eligibility for the position by removing the requirement that the editor be an ACVR Diplomate. While an ACVR or ECVDI Diplomate and/or veterinarian is preferred, we are open to individuals with imaging research experience and individuals with scientific journal editorial experience. Applications, with a letter of intent, a curriculum vitae (CV), and the names of 2-3 people the search committee may contact about your writing and/or organizational skills, can be submitted to the ACVR Executive Director. Please contact the ACVR Executive Director with any questions you may have about the editor-in-chief position.
