This Weekend at St. Michael's

Detour Ahead!

Have you ever been close to your final destination and bumped into a "Detour" sign? It happens with faith, life, and now on your way to church. Through the beginning of next week, you will need to go straight past the church onto Gillen Road and then turn left on Tudor Road (through the neighborhood) to reach the church parking lot. CLICK HERE for a map and we'll see you Sunday!

Sunday Forum

This Sunday, 9:15 AM

Listening & Responding

Is listening for OR responding to the Spirit more difficult? Join Rev. Matt for his Sunday Forum in the sanctuary to learn about the various ways you can listen for the Spirit and what it looks like in your life when you respond. In-person & online.

Children's Worship Station

Check it out on Sunday!

Have you had a chance to see our new Children's Worship Station in the hall outside the nave? Children are invited to grab a bag and fill it with any of the new materials that will help them worship God! You'll find erasable LED drawing pads, finger labyrinths, fidget snakes, children's bulletins, and more to hopefully enhance their church experience as well as the experience of the adults with them!

Men's Fellowship Group

This Saturday, 8:00 - 9:00 AM

Seeking New Participants!

The Men's Fellowship group offers a wonderful opportunity for men of all ages to connect with one another over Morning Prayer, breakfast refreshments, and lively conversation on every topic from football to family to prayers for those in need. They typically have 10-15 in attendance and would love to have more! They meet on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. Contact Rich Page at pagex2@comcast.net for more information.

Creating Space

This Saturday, 9:00 AM - Noon

This group meets on the fourth Saturday of the month to "create space" for you to craft, create, or simply be away from the busyness of life. Drop in as your schedule permits or stay all morning. Contact Mary Hattick at mhattick@gmail.com or Sandie Willey at boppiewilley@gmail.com for more information.

Habitat Service Opportunities

Saturday, September 30

For the service component of our upcoming St. Michael's weekend, we have partnered with Habitat for Humanity, and additional help is needed. The morning slots at the build site are full, but we still need 8 more volunteers for the afternoon shift (12:30-4:00) and volunteers to work at one of the two ReStores (great opportunity for service hours for those 12 years and older). We also need people to make lunches for those at the work site AND to CHALK THE WALK after for our St. Michael's Sunday fun. There's an opportunity available for all ages and skill levels! For more detailed information and to volunteer, click below.

Food Trucks & Fun

St. Michael's Sunday

October 1, 11:45 AM

Join us for fellowship, food, and fun after the 10:30 AM service next Sunday as we celebrate our patron saint. Food for sale from one of the fabulous Food Trucks (Big Pappa's Grill, Ricky's Island Cafe, Sosas Pupuseria, Crepes-N-Go, Jackpot Coffee, Springs Cupcakes) ranges from $3 - $10 per item, so don't forget your money...along with your enthusiasm for the fun activities!

St. Francis Pet & Stuffed Animal Blessing

Sunday, October 8

St. Francis loved all animals, so in honor of his Feast Day, we'll be blessing both the living ones and the stuffed ones. Bring your stuffed animals to either of the morning services on October 8 for a blessing OR bring your well behaved pets to the Plaza for a 25-minute liturgy and a special blessing in the afternoon at 2:00 PM.

Friday, October 13

5:00 - 8:00 PM

Join the St. Mike's BBQ Ministry for fellowship and brats with all the fixins'. Seasonal beers will be served, and German music will set the tone for this celebration! ALL ARE WELCOME, but please sign up for planning purposes. Suggested donation of $10/meal OR $20/family.

Fall High School Retreat

October 13-15

High Schoolers are invited to the 2023 Fall Retreat at Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp! "Trailblazers" is the theme, chosen by the youth council, and this will shape the weekend as they dive into conversation about who were trailblazers in their lives and how they can be trailblazers for those who come after them. Activities will include time spent at an alpine lake, adventures on Rainbow Trail's team ropes course, and more!

Soul Shop Training

October 21, 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM

SoulShop offers free one-day workshops that train religious leaders on how their faith communities can care for people's minds and bodies as well as their souls. We are excited to partner with David Galvan for this invaluable work. David is St. Michael's Mental Health First Aid In-Resident Trainer, and he has led more than 20 of these workshops over the past two years. He likens this training to CPR, hopeful that giving people the information and insights they need to help troubled souls contemplating suicide will save numerous lives.

Altar Flower Delivery

Vases Needed

Did you know that most weeks the altar flowers are divided into smaller arrangements and shared with parishioners needing a little bit of extra cheer? The Flower Guild is running low on vases and would appreciate donations of any small or bud size ones. Please bring these to the front desk for Diane, Mondays through Thursdays between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
