From the CEO's Desk

Welcome to May!

A busy month for everyone, especially the Chamber! Staff are putting the final touches on the 39th Annual Business Excellence Awards, presented by BDO Canada, this Thursday, May 4th at the Towneplace Suites by Marriott. This event is sold out, and it will be a very special evening for all of our finalists, winners, and guests. Our May InTouch arrives early next week, just in advance of Business After Hours hosted by Misty’s Kitchens on May 9th, and our Skilled Trades Luncheon presented by the Grand Erie District School Board, the Brant Haldimand-Norfolk Catholic District School Board and the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program on Tuesday, May 16th.

May is Mental Health Month, and we are proud to highlight a number of initiatives to support awareness and action to improve support in our community. This week, we will feature Food4Thought on ChamberTV – presented by Millard’s Chartered Professional Accountants – and the Smile Cookie Campaign, in support of Lansdowne Children Centre. We look forward to highlighting how partnerships improve our community, check out the show on RogersTV and YouTube beginning Thursday. If your business or organization would like to be featured on an upcoming show, please get in touch with the Chamber. We are looking to do some on-location shoots this summer in preparation for our fall schedule.

This month the Chamber is also proud to highlight the Moose Hide Campaign. For more information please click the link(s) within, or stop by the Chamber office or at an event to pick up your pin.

Take care of yourself and others this month.

Ploughman’s Lunch

Why, What, When, Where, Who, & How to be involved

Perhaps you haven’t heard of it? What’s it all about? How does it work? Why be involved?

Why my company, organization or club?

An easy way to meet with your people around food AND benefit the community at the same time.

  • For business – it builds camaraderie by gathering employees together to support a good cause. Eating together has a way of breaking down barriers in a good gesture toward employees.
  • For organizations – it relieves the burden of preparing the food, keeping all the other good features intact.
  • For clubs – it’s easy, fast, a reason to gather and a great way to support the Children’s Safety Village of Brant

Simply having lunch with your friends and associates supports a great community cause.

What is it?

A Ploughman’s Lunch offers a great meat and cheese on a fresh bun with a side of veggies, dessert, water and fruit delivered to you on the day of the event.

When is it?

All lunches are delivered by noon (or as scheduled within reason) on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

Where?

If more convenient or less than 5 lunches, orders can be picked up at the Children’s Safety Village (407 Elgin St). See the order form at the Link below for details on it you can let us know.

Who?

The Kiwanis Club of Brantford supports multiple community events in support of children. In carefully controlled food handling conditions, Members, along with supporting family and friends actively prepare lunches for distribution throughout the City of Brantford and County of Brant. The event has been part of the Community for over 20 years.

How can you make the arrangements to be involved?

Easy – talk with your friends and colleagues, garner involvement and support. Register for your lunches by forwarding the order form found on the link below. All lunches must be pre-ordered as early as possible.
