Your Support in Action

Since the start of the new year, our staff has been out in the community to provide educational presentations, brochures and other materials, and more. Our Community Educators recently visited a class at Gwynedd Mercy University to teach students about healthy relationships and how to distinguish between healthy, unhealthy, and abusive relationships. One of the students had this message for our educators:

Thank you to our generous supporters, who make education efforts possible for students in our community. If you are interested in having Laurel House educators visit your school, contact us at education@laurel-house.org.

Donor Spotlight: St. Peter's Thrift Shop

St. Peter's Thrift Shop in North Wales have been some of Laurel House's longest and most dedicated supporters.

Determined to help women and children escaping domestic violence, St. Peter's Thrift Shop was originally conceived as an outreach program for Nehemiah's Way, a transitional housing program in the North Wales region that merged with Laurel House in 2004. This merger allowed Laurel House to grow and serve more of the geographic region of Montgomery County. St. Peter's has continued their support of our efforts in the North Wales region even after the merge. In addition to Laurel House, their growth over the decades has enabled them to support other charities in Montgomery County that help women and children, including KenCrest Child Development Centers, Silver Springs–Martin Luther School, and Manna on Main Street.

To date, the volunteers at St. Peter's Thrift Shop have donated $251,500 in proceeds from sales to Laurel House. The team at Laurel House would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to the members of St. Peter's Thrift Shop for being one of our community partners and for decades of supporting survivors of domestic violence. You continue to make our work possible every year!
