After a busy summer, the ACA’s SPLASH! Newsletter is back! A couple summer updates:

The ACA annual Raise UP the ARTS reception took place on Wednesday, June 21, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Atlantic Pavilion at Johnny’s Restaurant at the Wyndham Newport Hotel in Middletown. The event featured live music, light hors d’oeuvres, and the presentation of four awards: the Tinney Family Arts Scholarship, the Spring 2023 Artist Award, the Dominique Award, and the LeRoy White ‘Soul & Conscience Award’.

Many thanks to the following organizations who donated gift certificates for the silent auction: The Newport Playhouse, Newport Classical, Massage by Anya, Newport Contemporary Ballet, the Newport String Project Quartet, The Choir School of Newport County, The Preservation Society, Cassie Taber, and RevkaDance.
The Tinney Family Arts Scholarship was presented to Tiverton resident and Tiverton High School graduate, Cassie Taber, who plans on continuing her visual arts studies at Endicott College in Boston studying visual arts and secondary education.
The Spring 2023 Artist Award was awarded to the Historic Music of Newport organization and accepted by Mark Stickney, the group’s founder. The Historic Music of Newport produced ‘Concerts in Touro Park’ featuring four Rhode Island Concert Bands. For other events and concerts sponsored by Historic Music of Newport visit their website at: www.historicmusicofnewport.org
The Dominique Award is given to a community member who goes above and beyond to promote and serve the arts. It was bestowed upon Lynne Tungett, publisher and editor of Newport This Week and longtime supporter, promoter, and advocate of and for the arts. Next year’s ‘Raise Up the Arts’ will be on June 26, 2024 at Johnny’s.
The LeRoy White ‘Soul & Conscience Award is given to a musician who embodies the spirit of LeRoy’s gift to Newport and the world, whose life and/or art contributes to and connects the community. The 1 st ‘Soul & Conscience Award’ was presented to Greg Ferreira,’Greggy Good’,’ who regaled the attendees with his lively and fun music which many danced to. If you would like to see and hear Greggy Good check out his website www.greggygood.com for his performance schedule. Many thanks to Deborah White and her family for establishing this award.
ARTS AROUND THE FIRE
Meet Clemens Teufel,
"Puddingston Music Festival"
Wednesday, October 18
6pm - 8pm
The Parlor, 200 Broadway

The first ‘Arts Around the Fire’ for this season is Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 6 pm to 8 pm at The Parlor, 200 Broadway in Newport. The Alliance's guest will be Clemens Teufel founder of the new festival “Puddingstone Festival of Music & Art”.
The series will work to combine classical and other musical repertoire with complementing non-performing art to enhance the listener’s experience, excite the imagination and reduce barriers to entry for those interested in experiencing the power of classical and other music for the first time.

Arts Around the Fire is an opportunity for artists, writers, performers and audiences to engage with colleagues about events affecting the cultural community and learn about new ideas and good work being done. Arts Around the Fire features a cash bar, hors d'oeuvres, and an informal atmosphere where artists and art lovers can connect.

Please join us, free, utterly informal, no reservations needed
