John's usual--
This past week was DSP Appreciation Week & everything that CLI does is 100% the people who make up this non-profit company. We're a lot smaller than we used to be-- only 12 staff with CLI & 3 more staff with Firelands Local LLC. We've included a staff phone & email list later in this newsletter. It's really pretty amazing what this small team is able to accomplish. I'm very grateful for all of them. Any of them would be snapped up by another employer in a hot second, but they stick with us because they are committed to what we do. If you appreciate anything someone has done or will do, please send them a quick text or email to tell them.
This coming Saturday is our final cornhole tournament & reverse raffle. Registration starts at 12 pm, the actual tournament play starts at 1 pm, and the first reverse raffle ticket gets pulled at 2pm. We're pretty sure that the tournament and the raffle will be wrapped up around 4pm. If people are having a good time, we'll keep the party going until 6 pm.
Thank you to all of you who have helped sell so many tickets. You know who you are & I truly appreciate you! If you'd like to buy a ticket, I only have 5 left (although I suspect I'll get a few back this week). You can reach me directly by phone at 419-706-5137 or by email at john@CLIsupports.com. The blue button below should link you to my email.
Just a reminder that, if you know any parents of older teenagers or young adults still in school, please share our 9/30 (Friday night) free bowling & pizza event info with them. It's really important that the DD system does a better job helping individuals and their families successfully transition from high school to the adult world. The systems are very, very different and the sooner parents can start planning based on a clear understanding of the resources available to them, the better. This will be a fun & easy event. We'll have volunteers to bowl & engage the kids while the parents meet. I'm pretty sure that we'll have representatives from both HCBDD & ECBDD SSA Departments.
At Angie's request we've attached a copy of the 2023 regular program calendar that shows the regular day program days for the next calendar year. The only big change is that we've shortened our Christmas break to come back on January 3rd. It just felt too long-- and shortening that winter break should make it just a little bit easier to allow CLI staff to take other vacation days (or weeks) at different times of the year. Otherwise that' all I have for now. Have a fun and safe week.
John
