Have You Taken the Car-Free MSP Pledge Yet?

Small changes do make a big difference!

The 2023 Car-Free MSP pledge is pretty simple: replace one trip that you normally take by car and try another transportation option. It could be going to work or school. Maybe it’s a shopping errand or to the park. The trip is up to you – any length, any destination. Share what that trip is and how you are going to get there.

The pledge is a fun way to help educate and encourage transportation behavior change. Move Minneapolis can provide resources to make that first bus trip easy, help you learn how to use scooter-share, or discover a safe biking route to work. As an added incentive, all pledges are entered into a drawing for an e-bike and other fabulous prizes.

So far, over 600 people have pledged! Check out the ways people are getting around using sustainable transportation and where they’re going (can include more than one option):

  • 52% will go shopping
  • 50% will go to work
  • 12% will go to school
  • 10% will go to a park

Other car-free destinations people have listed: MN State Fair, Saints game, church, synagogue, breweries, bike camping, volunteer work, downtown nightlife, Allianz Field for a United game

The car replacement trip will involve (can include more than one option):

  • 40% by bike
  • 39% by bus
  • 37% by walking
  • 18% by light rail
  • 12% by carpool
  • 11% by telework
  • 1% by vanpool

Other car-free options people have listed: Evie car-share, Northstar commuter rail, running, scooters, and skateboarding

Pledging is open until midnight, September 30th.
