In a video shared at Tuesday's Parent Town Hall, students shared their thoughts about Heilicher and more — using just one word.
An Update from the Parent Town Hall

Thank you to the many parents who participated in Tuesday’s Town Hall, both in person and via our livestream. If you missed it, watch our Parent Town Hall livestream. As Maia said in her remarks, the last two years have certainly tested us, our children, our families, our school, and our communities, but they have also shown us our resilience and our determination. We are excited for the future of Heilicher!

At the Town Hall, we premiered a short video showcasing a day in the life of the school. Click the above image to watch! Feel free to share it with family and friends; it is a great snapshot of the Heilicher experience.

We are excited to be getting back to “normal,” with activities like all-school assemblies and t’filah, the grades 7-8 play (Beauty and the Beast!) next week, and upcoming school trips to Washington, DC, (grade 8) and Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center (grades 6-7). We also are thrilled to welcome back vaccinated adult volunteers to our hallways and classrooms. Please keep an eye out for volunteer sign-ups and do your part to help support this wonderful community.

At the conclusion of Robyn’s presentation, she highlighted a number of ways to get involved with Heilicher in the coming months. In addition to volunteer roles, these include
  • Completing the ISACS re-accreditation parent survey, which will come out on April 4.
  • Continuing to serve as a vocal ambassador for Heilicher.
  • Boosting Heilicher social media posts to your personal social media platforms and groups.
  • Attending upcoming all-school events, including
  • Heilicher Kicks for Kids - Sunday, May 1
  • Heilicher Annual Benefit - Thursday, May 19
  • Heilicher Annual Meeting - Thursday, June 2

Finally, as announced at the Town Hall and emailed to you yesterday, please note that we have two sessions next week for parents to meet our Head of School candidate:

In-Person Parent Meeting
Tuesday, April 5
7:30-8:30 p.m. (evening)
Manny Fingerhut Auditorium (Heilicher)

Parent Zoom Meeting
Wednesday, April 6
8:30-9:30 a.m. (morning)

We will provide more information about this candidate ahead of their visit. Questions regarding the search can be directed to the Search Committee Co-Chairs, Michele Kaplan Clinard and Esther Goldberg-Davis, at HOSSearch@hmjds.org

Very best, and, as always, please feel free to be in touch with either of us with any questions you may have.

Face Mask 2
COVID-19 Update and Reminders

As of March 30, the school made masks optional in most spaces because of the low risk of COVID-19 in our community. However, kids still get colds, flus, colds and stomach bugs. Our goal is to provide a healthy environment to learn in so please remember:
  • Keep your child home if they are sick.
  • Report any symptoms of illness, absences, COVID-19 exposures or positive student/household cases through the Heilicher Communication Center
  • Do a COVID-19 rapid antigen test before returning to school after an absence caused by common symptoms of COVID-19.
  • We ask that if your child comes back to school but still has some lingering symptoms of a viral infection other than COVID-19, please have them wear a mask until the symptoms resolve. Along with hand washing, this will help prevent the spread of infection to others.
Current Families: Lower School (K-5) In-Person Open House

Current grades K-5 parents and students are invited to a Heilicher open house this Monday, April 4, 4-4:45 p.m. We are excited to welcome parents back into the building, and this is a great chance to see your students' classrooms and meet their teachers in person!

Parents: If you and your children are planning to attend the open house together, please pick them up in the dismissal line, return to the south parking lot, park, and re-enter at 4 p.m. through the front door of the Sabes JCC. If your child has an after-school activity, you may also attend the open house on your own.

Masks are optional in your child's classroom, but we ask that adult attendees be vaccinated.
