Waste Management Holiday Collection Schedule

All Village departments will be closed on Monday, May 30 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday, and will reopen for normal business Tuesday, May 31 from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Please note that garbage collection will be delayed by one day for the week following Memorial Day. For example, Monday pickup will take place on Tuesday, Tuesday pickup will occur on Wednesday, and so on. View the Waste Management pickup schedule here.

The Lake County Public Works Department is installing a new sanitary sewer force main from Three Lakes Drive to the Archer parking lot starting Tuesday, May 31 (weather permitting). The contractor will begin installation of erosion controls and minor brush clearing prior to pipe installation. The project is expected to be completed by the end of July, and no road closures or detours are planned. There may be times when traffic will be limited to one lane and allowed to pass through under the direction of flaggers. Click here for more information and a map covering the project.

Blue Star Memorial Ceremony

On Saturday, May 28 at 10 a.m., the Long Grove-Kildeer Garden Club will unveil a Blue Star Memorial Marker in a ceremony at Buffalo Creek Park to honor the men and women who fought and died protecting our country and our freedom. The ceremony will include a dedication, tributes, flags and music. Residents who are service members or veterans, and are interested in participating should call Paula VanSingel at 847-478-0000 or by email. The Blue Star Memorial program was developed by the National Garden Clubs Inc. in 1945, and is now a symbol in parks and along dedicated highways across the country.

Please note: The service is available by appointment only on the third Wednesday of every month, with the exception of the first event that is scheduled for Wednesday, May 25. The associated fees will cover the cost of proper handling, storing and recycling/reuse of these high-demand items; only credit or debit cards will be accepted.

Chocolate Fest This Weekend!

Long Grove’s famous Chocolate Fest is returning Friday, May 20 - Sunday, May 22, with its vast assortment of scrumptious chocolate creations, family entertainment and live music on multiple stages. The event is hosted by the Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association ( 847-634-0888) and marks the official opening of the spring shopping season in town, with Village shops and restaurants offering specials and sales throughout the weekend. Entrance to the fest is free to Long Grove residents who show an Illinois driver’s license or present a Chocolate Fest ticket found in the April issue of Long Grove Living magazine.
