OKC Streetcar Achieves 1 Million Riders Milestone


The OKC Streetcar reached its 1 million rider milestone on Saturday, Sept. 10, since service began in December 2018, according to EMBARK officials. The OKC Streetcar was one of the 2009 voter-approved MAPS 3 transit projects. 

 “I commend everyone at OKC Streetcar for working together to get through a two-year period that was very challenging across the country for public transit, downtowns and tourism,” said Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt. “As we transition into some normality, the Streetcar continues to emerge as a valuable resource for visitors, who are themselves an ever more important part of our local economy.”   Read More


SWTA Welcomes Amanda Webb as Member Services & Operations Specialist

Amanda Webb joined the SWTA Nation team earlier this month as our new Member Services and Operations Specialist. A resident of Arkansas, Amanda will assist Executive Director Rich Sampson in responding to our members' needs, including dues payments, conference registration, our member database and the deployment of our new member services portal and SWTA website.

Due to a recent upgrade Oklahoma State University Transit has a surplus of GFI CentsABill Fareboxes. They have approximately 50 in various working conditions, and one vault located in Stillwater, OK.

DCTA names Paul Cristina as president and CEO

The Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) Board of Directors has appointed Paul Cristina as the agency’s new president and chief executive officer (CEO).   

“The DCTA Board appreciates Paul’s collaborative communication and leadership style, and he has gained the trust and confidence of the board over the last six months. We believe that his experience and vision will enable our agency to realize its tremendous potential to deliver value to the residents of Denton County and our region,” said Cesar Molina, chair of the DCTA Board of Directors. The town of Prescott Valley, Ariz., welcomed the launch of a new public transit system, the YavaLine Regional Transit System (YAV), which began operation of its on demand/ microtransit system in the heart of Prescott Valley. Read more.
