Our Weekly News & Updates
| |
Good morning, friends,
We are slowly transitioning back to mostly normal. One of the changes we made for online services was to move our weekly email from Wednesdays to Tuesdays so that we could include the bulletin for Wednesday mornings in our email. In the flow of our week, as we are doing a hybrid (online and in-person model), it is becoming harder and harder to get the emails out Tuesday mornings. So, with us no longer needing to publish the Wednesday bulletin we are going back to our original Wednesday emails. We just wanted to give you a heads up that next week will be different.
For those of you who joined us for Mark Longaker's memorial service, thank you! The family was so appreciative of your presence and the fond remembrances you shared. It was a beautiful day and service.
We have some fun things coming soon. We are starting on our new church directory. Please read up on that below. Photos will be taken June 15-18, with the possibility of sending in photos if needed. It will provide an updated resource that we will be able to have on paper and electronically through a smartphone app!
This Saturday we have our Flying Squirrels game with reserved seating. Please follow the link and get your tickets for that. We would love to have a good bunch out for that.
Lastly, our end of the program year picnic after church is May 22, which is always a fun time. Hope you will plan on being with us then as we gather and celebrate this year. We will also be announcing soon our summer movie festival agenda, with family and grown-up movies scattered throughout the summer.
Blessings as we continue in the Easter season!

Lent Offering Box
During Lent many of you have been working on the things in The Lenten Family Bags. One of them was decorating a Lent Offering Box that you've been putting coins in. Please bring your box on Sunday, April 24th to Children's Church. We can't wait to see how you've decorated it and to count the money for a wonderful cause.

Lord, we lift up this nation struggling with itself these days, reeling from this pandemic and its repercussions. Encourage us to faithfulness, righteousness, and compassion for all God’s Children. We lift up Justin, Archbishop of Canterbury, Michael, our Presiding Bishop, Susan, Jennifer, and Porter our Bishops, Rock+ and Becky+, our priests. May they be strengthened and encouraged as the work with us to proclaim your Good News in this world. We pray for Joe, our President, Glenn, our Governor, and Steve, our Mayor, and all our elected officials. Guide them to lead us to the common good.
We ask your prayers for peace; for goodwill among nations; and for the well-being of all people. Remembering especially Gus Miller, Erin Yagla, Meredith Moon, Meghann Batten, Michael Fox, Bill Blakemore, Chambers Cromwell, Dennis Folsom, Carter, Paul Robb, Debra Bernard, Smith family, Alex Gillette, Pam Gillette, Sally Budd, Sarah Chamblee & family, Jeff Lawrence, May and family, Melanie Fischer, Court Warfield, Meredith Roemer, Jane Howard, Amanda and family, The Rev. Susannah Metz, Carol Martin, Pam Bowers, Gene England Simons, Mayers family, Rose & Mike Brown, Wendy Vaughan, Andrea Alexander McCallum, Matt & Megan Goff, the Diocesan Search Committee for our new Bishop and the Slate of Candidates for the process.
We ask your prayers for the poor, the sick, the hungry, the oppressed, and those in prison. We also ask your prayers for those serving in the diplomatic corps, the military, and as missionaries: Kemper Jones, Greg Ericksen, Matthew Thomas, Philip Morison, James Ashley, Andrew Brunson, Jordan Fox, and Katherine Murphy.
We ask your prayers for those who have died, especially Madge Carter and Mark Longaker.
We ask your prayers for those who grieve.
We pray for health care in Metropolitan Richmond: For clinics, medical personnel, and all institutions that serve persons who are uninsured or underinsured. For a national health care system that promotes and encourages health, wellness, and well being for all people.
For all those who seek peace in the world and for ourselves, that we may bring about God's Kingdom here on earth. For our enemies, and for those who wish us harm.
Praise God for those in every generation in whom Christ has been honored.
