Hiring Freeze Exemption Process
Thank you for your patience and understanding throughout the last few months of the district hiring freeze for Central Office and Field Services. We are committed to continuing the work of creating systems and processes that support our hiring managers with the important work of staffing their teams. At the same time, we are continuing the important work we have done over the last few months by ensuring that we are prioritizing resources and that our organizational structure is aligned to our district's priorities. At this time, the hiring freeze remains in place. Any requests for non-school-based and student-facing critical support positions must receive approval through the Hiring Freeze Exemption Process. In order for us to continue supporting you with your requests as timely as possible, we have made a few updates to the process.

All managers looking to post for a replacement position must follow these steps:

  1. Request approval from your DLT member to request an exemption.
  2. If your DLT member supports your request, complete the Exemption Request form, which is now a Google Form.
  3. The Position Control team will review your request for approval (Director of Talent Acquisition, Director of HR Partners and Executive Director Finance).
  4. If approved, you will receive an email notification from HR notifying you that your request was approved and you can request the job requisition
  5. Talent Acquisition will post your job requisition within 48 hours of receiving the request. Moving forward, we are requiring all postings to be posted for a minimum of five business days. Hiring managers can elect to post internally only by indicating that in the notes to HR section of the job requisition.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your HR Partner and/or Talent Acquisition Specialist.
Updates & FYI
Utilize the Offboarding Checklist for Departing DPS Employees
For managers with employees who are departing DPS, whether due to resignation or reduction, please ensure you are engaging with the Leader Offboarding Checklist and sharing the Employee Offboarding Checklist with the affected employee.
Let Google Help Wrap Up the School Year
As you close out this school year, let Google help! Use this time to do some “digital spring cleaning” by going through files and documents on your computer desktop and Google Drive locations. Old files should be deleted. Relevant files should be moved to and organized in Google Drive with appropriate sharing settings, keeping in mind vital student data privacy considerations. This is especially important if you are transitioning away from your current role or school. For any file used by a team, school or department, best practice is to house them in a Shared Drive. As you do this, check in with your manager on how your team organizes work in Drive. For more information and additional resources, visit The Commons.
