Dear Residents –

Orangetown was lucky to have been spared from the brush fires last Friday night that ran from Congers up to Stony Point. Thanks to all the first responders that stepped up to help extinguish the fires. While a few firefighters experienced heat exhaustion, we were fortunate that there was no loss of life. This week, my office participated in a call with other elected officials, state and county agencies, and officials from CSX, to discuss, among other things, what steps need to be taken to assure that this does not happen again. Thanks to Senator Weber for coordinating this very important call.

This past week was a busy one for sure, starting last Saturday with the Opening Day Ceremony for the Pearl River Little League. While it was fun to be back at Anderson Field after so many years, it was also touching to see the awards being given out in the names of players that are no longer with us. It was especially moving to see the Chance Cosgrove Memorial Batting Cage sign, as my son played with Chance and my family knew first-hand what a great kid he was. It is nice knowing that his memory, one of kindness to all, will live on forever at Anderson Field.

On Monday, I attended the annual Yom HaShoah Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Rockland County Courthouse. All of the elected officials in attendance were invited to light the 4th candle, in remembrance of all those who were lost in the Holocaust.

On Tuesday, I joined members from the Rockland Business Association (RBA) at the Hudson Valley iCampus (formerly owned by Pfizer, Wyeth, Lederle, and American Cyanamid) to discuss the future plans for the property. We are looking forward to great things happening at the site soon.

And, finally, the week concluded on a high note with the first Orangetown Senior Citizen Prom. The weather was absolutely perfect and those in attendance obviously enjoyed each other’s company, the music, food, photo booth, and maybe even a little wine. Check out the photos below and hope to see more of you there next year!

Have a great weekend everyone.

Regards,

Teresa M. Kenny

Batter up, hear that call. The time has come for one and all...To play ball.

On Saturday, April 15th, Supervisor Kenny attended the Opening Day Ceremony for the Pearl River Little League. So many smiling faces on the children of all ages that were excited for another season of baseball and softball. Good luck to all of the teams and thank you to all of the men and women who volunteer their time to make PRLL such a success.

2023 Senior Citizen Prom

Thank you to everyone who came out.

Thanks to Ann Nally from the Rockland GAA, The Tommy Dunn and Jan Lynch Band and Luigi O'Grady's for the extra care they gave to our seniors. And special thanks to Carmel Reilly and Kimberly Allen for making it such a wonderful event.

A few runners gathered together on Friday, April 14th, to wish one of our own good luck on running the Boston Marathon. It must have helped, as Emma Sarro set a personal record with a time of 3:15:31. Congratulations, Emma!
