UTR SINGLES FLEX LEAGUE

MAY 2 - JUNE 5

SIGN UP NOW!

Deadline May 1 11:00pm

The past several summers, in place of a traditional singles ladder, we have run a community-wide UTR Singles Challenge. In place of that this year, we are running a series of UTR Singles Flex Leagues, with the first one running from May 2 to June 5.

You'll get paired up with local opponents to play 4 Verified UTR Matches over 5 weeks! Find new level-based competitors, stay local, and schedule matches when and where you want!

Players will be divided into leagues/groups based on their location and UTR Rating (or NTRP/equivalent rating). Singles (Adults, Women, & Juniors) league cost is $29 for UTR Power Subscribers and $41 for non-Power Subscribers.

Leagues Options:

Adult Coed Singles League (Ages 16 & above)

Junior Singles League (Ages 12-17)

Third Friday

New Member/New Player Event

Friday May 19, 6:30pm

We had a nice turnout for a fun inaugural Third Friday event in April, so we're doing it again in May! This is a cool new program for our newer and existing members that need a gentler entry into tennis. This is perfect if you're rusty, just beginning your tennis journey, or need a refresher on some basics. On May 19 (Friday) at 6:30pm we'll meet on court 1 and have an experienced member lead the group through an on-court topic together. We'll drill and practice together for about 20 minutes, and we'll leave the court to the players for the rest of the night. This is a great way to get to know other players in the early learning stages of tennis (we've all been there!) and hit in a low-pressure environment. Please RSVP if you plan on coming, as spots are limited.

Sign up for Third Friday in May!

From the Clubhouse

Hi Everybody,

I think I'm glad like everyone else that spring finally decided to arrive! We'll be a few days later than normal getting windscreens up on the outdoor courts and getting the patio set up for warmer weather, but it should all get done in early May. May is usually a busy month for events at the club--we help OSU with some courts for their Spring Inviatational, we host the Mid-Willamette Conference high school district tournament, and we're a rain site for MWC JV districts and the OSAA 4A-3A-2A-1A state championships. So keep an eye out, and thank you all in advance for helping facilitate these important events for our tennis community.

Lastly, the Board of Directors is considering expanding the length of some or all of the available court times to 90 minutes (from the current 75 minutes). There are lots of elements surrounding this to consider, including the pros (more time to play per court time, ability to complete matches, etc.) and the cons (reducing daily inventory of court times, possibly needing to change start/stop times to accommodate the change, etc.). Membership input will be a part of this decision-making process, too. In the coming weeks, you'll get an email survey with a couple of options, asking you to indicate your preference. Keep in mind that this won't be a "vote" or a binding mandate, no matter the outcome of the survey. It's just a tool that the Board is going to use for context as they move through this process. So look for that email and let them know which option feels the best for you. Thanks, as always, for being an active part of the club!
