A Message From Our Director

Dear Amaryllis Community:

I’m so happy to be back in the clinic! The support from all of you has been great and very appreciated.

Our team has been super busy while I’ve been out and we have lots of exciting things in the works that I would like to share with you. We have two really cool classes for kids starting in June. Mary will lead the Cooking Class which is designed for kids ages 9 and up. It offers kids the opportunity to develop not only their planning and organizational skills, but also interact with their peers in a supportive setting. Stephanie is leading the Handwriting Class again this June and yes, rumor has it that the “Magic Letter Bunny” will be back! And stay tuned for Social Skills group starting in July.

Robin’s infant massage classes continue to fill up quickly so we will be adding another space for more parents to be able to attend her amazing class! More information about our classes below…..

We’re excited to start up our OT intern program again which has been on hold since the COVID pandemic. Some of you may have already met Tej who will keep us on our toes with all the latest information coming out of CSU. We’re glad she’s here.

And last but not least is our patient survey which will be in your inbox very soon. I value your feedback about our staff and our programs as it helps us grow. Please, take a few minutes to give us your thoughts on how we are doing and what we could do better.

Or feel free to reach out to me directly at cindy@amaryllistherapy.net My door is always open!

In gratitude,

Cindy

Our Occupational Therapy Intern!

My name is Tej and I am a recent CSU Master of Occupational Therapy graduate. I am here at Amaryllis to complete my last Level II Fieldwork, and I couldn't be more excited to work with the amazing team here. My passions in occupational therapy are sensory integration and feeding. I love working with kids and am excited to work with kids as an occupational therapist one day. I love their natural curiosity and enthusiasm about life.

Before starting my OT journey, I was an international English teacher and loved to travel to different countries to teach kids and adults.

I love living in Colorado and enjoy trail running, and hiking and being out in the mountains. I love to cook and to eat. I am an amateur gardener but I am learning. I am an aunt to my awesome 14-month-old niece...and a great alaskan malamute.

Something I am proud of: I really struggled with ESL classes when I first moved to the US, but I was nominated to speak at graduation, and I delivered my speech in front of 300 people, in English.

Road construction is still ongoing at Harlan at I70. It may change daily with little or no advanced warning. Generally the Sheridan and Wadsworth are the best choices.

Our best advice is to allow extra time (at least 15-20 extra minutes) until the construction is completed.

NOTE: If using the Sheridan exit, turn South (left) on Sheridan from exit and go to 44th Street, turn East (right) on 44th follow to Harlan and turn right (North) until you reach our building.

Washing hands is STILL the best way for us to prevent the spread of any illness.

If your child or anyone in your household has any “cold-like” symptoms such as a runny nose, scratchy throat, fever or cough OR has been exposed to someone with COVID 19 OR tests positive for COVID 19 you must wait 7 days from onset or date of exposure before returning to the clinic, please reschedule your child’s appointment for a telehealth session.

FAMILY TIME!

Gluten-free Cookie Recipes With Oatmeal And Apples

Ingredients

1 cup Rolled oats or oatmeal (the top cereal brands will certify their oat products as certified gluten-free):

1 cup Flour (gluten-free blend):

2 Apples

1 teaspoon Baking soda

1 1/2 cup Grated apple

1 cup Raisins

1/2 cup Coconut oil

1 tablespoon Ground flax seed

1/3 cup Maple syrup/honey

1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon

Directions

With a wooden spoon, blend all the ingredients and chill in the freezer.

Meanwhile, heat the oven to 180 °C

After rolling the dough into one-fourth thick spread, cut out your desired shapes.

Place the shapes on the parchment paper-lined tray and bake for twenty minutes.

Set for a few minutes after taking out from the oven. Enjoy!

Grow a Rainbow!

This is a fun and quick project, and great for many ages!

You'll need:

Various colors of magic markers (purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red), 2 glass jars or cups, and paper towel.

Directions:

Take 1/2 of a full sheet of paper towel, placed on table so the longest portion is from left to right.

Use the markers to draw a thick line of each color (all 6) from top to bottom on both the left side and the right side, using same color patterns on each side. Make each line about 2 inches long, leaving plenty of white space in the middle!

Fill each glass each 1/2 way with water, allowing space for each side of the paper towel to touch water in each glass. Colors should just barley touch the water!

Given a few minutes a rainbow will grow right before your eyes!
