WOW! MAKE A DATE WITH NATURE

Spring is in sight and nature is resurging. Appreciating nature can lead to a sense of awe that draws our focus to things beyond ourselves. It can make us feel more connected on a universal scale which can profoundly influence how we respond to others and the environment around us.

Treat yourself to a date, or daily experience, with nature using WOW!

  1. Wander — Take a few minutes to walk at a leisurely pace.
  2. Observe — Notice what aspect of nature catches your eye and perhaps your breath. Observe it for a while. Be attentive to how it may lead to a mental, physical, or spiritual shift (or lift) for you.
  3. Wonder — Be curious about what life-affirming message that aspect of nature might have for you.

Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. – RACHEL CARLSON

TORTOISE TIME

After a winter of brumation (hibernation), desert tortoise Mojave Max will soon emerge to announce its officially spring in the desert. Learn more about the tortoise and mindful desert education, exploration, and recreation at www.mojavemax.com.

THE COMPASS

First envisioned just days after the 1 October tragedy, The Compass concept is a compassionate response to the chronic stresses that humans, habitats, and all life systems are experiencing. The Compass will designate mindful places to rest, reflect, and renew our energies. It will invite experiencing our living desert as a natural compass capable of grounding and guiding our journeys to better mental, emotional, and physical health as well as the healing of our common home. Learn more at The Compass.
