Glenna Phelps-Aurich, Executive Director of the Logan County Chamber of Commerce, presented the Business of the Week

Franchise Owners- Mark Oberg and Jerry Ehrke, Assistant Manager- Briann Epema and Culture Captain/Head Barista- Nikki Edgar

...Jerry Ehrke of Alma, Neb., and Mark Oberg of Gothenburg, Neb. are co-owners of AgEdge Development, also doing business as Scooters-Sterling. Their relationship started in the fall of 1979 on the first day of school at the University of Nebraska. The relationship that started that day has turned into a life-long friendship that is rooted in their common upbringing and experience of growing up on a central Nebraska farming operation.
...Their friendship led to the start of their first business venture, AgEdge Insurance. AgEdge Insurance specializes in crop insurance with offices in Alma and Gothenburg, while doing business in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Oregon. They are still active in row crop operations in Nebraska.
...Their desire to be involved in something outside their comfort zone inspired them to look into Scooter’s Coffee. Scooter’s Coffee is a Nebraska based business that has experienced tremendous growth over the last 10 years. During the winter of 2020 they started looking at the possibility of starting a Scooter’s Coffee franchise in an area close to Nebraska.
...Because the state of Nebraska had no remaining opportunities for additional franchisee ownership, they began to look elsewhere. That same year they purchased a territory east of I-25 in Colorado and began looking for communities where they thought Scooters could succeed.
...They were very fortunate to be able to purchase the lot that they are presently located, positioned near several main routes in Sterling. Needless to say, they have been very well pleased with the location, the great quality of employees that they have been blessed with, and the wonderful city of Sterling, as well. They have had an enjoyable experience working with all the great people of this community, including but not limited to, city and economic development employees, building contractors, Scooter’s employees, and of course, their dedicated customers.
...Scooters tag line is "Amazing People, Amazing Drinks, Amazingly Fast." Scooter’s Coffee offers many different types of coffee-based drinks that can be ordered hot, blended, or cold. Scooters also offers smoothies, infusions, refreshers, teas, and other drinks as well.
...Their food menu includes muffins, breakfast burritos, cinnamon rolls, breakfast sandwiches, cookies, and other seasonal items offered during the year. Of course, they also offer cake pops for younger customers and complementary doggie treats for our four- legged friends.
...Coming this summer to Scooters Sterling will be line busting ordering by their employees which will enable them to get their drinks in the hands of their customers even faster. Their current record is fifty-nine smiles (drive-through customers) in 1 hour.
...They encourage patrons to help them reach their goal of eighty smiles per hour sometime this summer! Also, they will soon be offering nitro infused drinks in the coming months. Be sure to download their handy app for your phone so that you can enjoy discounts, rewards, and order ahead convenience. They say, “Stop by and see us in downtown Sterling and enjoy our Amazing People, Amazing Drinks, Amazingly Fast!”
...“Thank you, Sterling, Colorado for making our first store such a great experience!” says Mark Oberg and Jerry Ehrke, Owners, and Annie Payne-Manager.
...Scooter’s Coffee is located at 430 Main St., Sterling. Give them a call at 970-525-6025 or visit them at scooterscoffee.com.

Send A Message

Looking for how nonverbal communication impacts sales? Your body language sends wordless cues long before you try to close a sale. In a retail store, people who feel they are being judged - whether a prospective new hire or a prospective new customer - move on to where they are welcomed.
