Only one weekend left to submit nominations for 2022
West Virginia Northern Community College is celebrating its 50th anniversary this Saturday, and we’re here for it!

We all know how expensive higher education has become. For many families a four-year college degree just isn’t in the cards. No one wants to leave college tens of thousands of dollars in debt, knowing that an entry-level job is unlikely to pay that tab anytime soon? That’s where a community college comes in to make college affordable for everyone.

Let's face it a four-year college degree isn’t for everyone, however continuing one’s education after high school, is essential to maintaining a skilled workforce and in keeping our nation moving forward.

America needs people with a wide range of skills. How many of us can fix our own plumbing or rewire our homes or maintain our vehicles? I know that I can’t do any of those things and I’m so appreciative of those who can. Just think about the training and stamina needed to drive one of those big rigs across the country!

WVNCC offers so many options for students and families from certificate classes that give you a jump-start to a career, to transfer classes where you complete two years of your college at Northern and then transfer to a partnering four-year institution. You’ll literally save thousands of dollars!

The deal is even better for high school students who take advantage of early entrance classes. A really ambitious student can graduate from high school and from college at the same time!

Having a college campus in a rural community is no small feat, adding immeasurable value to those living here as well as to new families looking to relocate to our area. So I hope to see everyone at the 50th Anniversary Gala where we can all look fancy while we show our support for one of the very best deals in our state!
