8:45 and 11:00 a.m.

Join us this Sunday at 8:45 and 11:00 a.m. as Dr. Ryan Baer will preach a sermon entitled, And God Said It Was Very Good. The scripture lesson for this week is Genesis 1:1-2:4a.

This Sunday, FPC Children will join us in leading worship. At the 11:00 a.m. service, the Chancel Choir will sing Now is the Cool of the Day, by Jean Ritchie, as the offertory anthem.

You can follow the livestream of the service on Facebook or YouTube. For instructions to follow livestream through Facebook or YouTube, click here. Find the text and audio from previous weeks' sermons, along with a copy of the bulletin, here.

Food Sunday

You may bring donations of canned diced tomatoes, hot breakfast cereal (grits or oatmeal), canned tuna to church on Sunday, September 10. You may also bring food to church office until Friday, September 8. Thanks for your donations in August - our neighbors in need are grateful!

Wed@First Begins September 20

Wed@First provides an opportunity to experience Christian fellowship and growth in a relaxed atmosphere. It includes dinner, children’s’ choirs, and Shakespeare and Friends, beginning at 4:30 p.m. and ending at 8:00 p.m. Dinner opens at 5:30 p.m. Our after-dinner program, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., will have a study led by Dr. Ryan Baer:

“Bumper Sticker Theology”

Join us after our Wed@First dinners in Moses Waddel Room for a series of conversations with Dr. Baer titled, “Bumper Sticker Theology.” We’ll explore phrases like, “God only gives you as much as you can handle,” and “In case of rapture, this car will be unmanned.” We’ll ponder the origins of these phrases, consider their usefulness, and put them in conversation with biblical texts. All are welcome, and no advance preparation is required.

Dot’s Closet

Dear friends, we are in need of the following items for Dot’s Closet: lightweight wheelchairs, shower chairs, and walkers. Please bring them to church office during business hours (Mon-Thu 8:30-4:30 p.m.; Fri 8:30-2:00 p.m.). For more information and questions, please contact Jennifer Sunderlin at frontdesk@firstpresathens.org.
