Dear River Forest residents,
I am happy to report that at Monday’s Village Board meeting, the Board approved the annual budget. This year’s budget includes projects that will benefit our community now and into the future, through continued investment in vital infrastructure - including streets, sidewalks, alleys and the Village’s water and sewer system. A copy of the budget is available online here.
May is Mental Health Awareness month and I’m excited to announce that our partnership with Thrive Counseling Center was renewed at Monday’s Board meeting. Thrive’s mission is to build healthy minds, families, and communities by empowering people to achieve mental and emotional well-being. The Village currently uses Thrive Counseling Center to provide crisis intervention services for the police department. Thrive provides our officers 24-hour access to their counselors for the people, victims and matters that require expertise outside of the training of our police officers. The Village and Thrive have a long-standing partnership and relationship. Thrive has provided counseling services for the Village since 2009. A copy of the agreement can be found here.
Lastly, as Memorial Day approaches, the Village, Park District, and River Forest Kiwanis Club are gathering information about residents who have served our country, for inclusion in 2023's Memorial Day Honor Roll. Honorees can include residents who are either active duty members or veterans who would be recognized during the Memorial Day Ceremony following the parade on Monday, May 29. The deadline to submit someone’s name to be included in the Honor Roll is Monday, May 22, and can be done here.
Sincerely,
|
