BEGINNING THIS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 Formation & Sunday School this Fall

NOTE: All Sunday School Classes begin on September 10 at 9:30am with the exception of the Adult Lectionary Class, which will begin on September 24.

In addition to Rotation Sunday School for children and our Youth Formation class for 6-12th graders, we have several options for adults! Coffee & Conversation is a self-led group is open to parents and guardians of children or youth, who would like to gather to discuss faith, life, and parenting. This class meets in the youth suite downstairs.

The Lectionary Class (begins on Sept. 24)) takes a closer look through insightful discussion of that Sunday’s lectionary readings. This class is lay-led and meets in the library. The Adult Henslee Hall Class will begin a 4-week series on Hospitality facilitated by Mother Elizabeth and the Reverend Mary Davis. And finally, Fr. Cal will offer a 4-week Newcomer Class in Henslee Hall. Check out the full descriptions of all these classes in the Guide to Participation

Book Group for September

TONIGHT!

We will be meeting TONIGHT, Thurs., Sept. 7 at 6:00 PM in Henslee Hall.

The book we are reading is Dear Edward by Ann Napolitano. This remarkable story is about a 12-year-old boy named Edward, who miraculously survives a plane crash that takes the lives of all other passengers, including his entire family. After this heartbreaking

ordeal, he has to find the resilience to create a new life for himself.

Please bring what you'd like to eat and drink to the meeting. New members are always welcome, even if they don't attend Good Sam! If you have any questions, please call Kathy Gray at 423-379-0091 or email [email protected].

Do You Use The Church Lift? (elevator)

If you use the lift (elevator) at Good Sam, there will be a brief "how to use" training THIS Sunday, September 10 between the services. Please join us if you need to use the lift but are having difficulty operating it. Meet Steve Campbell downstairs where the Lift is located for the training, if the Henslee Hall Class has begun.

Usher & Greeters Training

Sunday, September 10

After the late service

There will be a training for all folks who signed up to be Ushers or Greeters this Sunday, Sept. 10 after the late service.

If you signed up for one (or both) of these ministries, please make plans to be there! Thank you!

Movie DVDs Needed

When you are cleaning out your stash of movies, please consider donating them to the church. We need them when we host Family Promise and also for Parents Night Out. We can use both adult and children’s movies with ratings up to PG13. Thanks!

Cash in the Plate

The Cash In The Plate for this coming Sunday goes to Smokey's Pantry on the UTK campus.

A collaboration between FISH Pantry and Tyson House on the UT Campus, Smokey’s Pantry offers food and hygiene products to the students and staff at UT who need them. At Smokey’s everyone is welcomed. They never ask for IDs, qualifying questions or proof of income. As they say at Smokey’s Pantry, everyone deserves food-no exceptions.

You can make an online cash plate gift to the cash in the plate on the Good Sam online giving page. There is an option on the giving page to give to the "Cash in Plate". As always, you may also send a check to Good Samaritan. Please put "Smokey's Pantry" in the memo line.
