What is "Purple Tea?"
"Purple leaf tea in Kenya, is the result of a special tea variety developed over 30 years ago through selective breeding by The Tea Research Foundation of Kenya. It is said to have both black and green tea characteristics while boasting nearly twice the antioxidants of ordinary black and green tea."

Notice that the tea itself is not "purple," in the same way black tea and green tea do not speak to the colors black and green but rather to how the Camilla sinensis plant is processed. Purple tea, however, is a special cultivar of Camilla sinensis. This, along with the way purple tea is handled and processed is the key to its superior health benefits.

Today I'll be talking about purple tea and its wondrous health benefits!

"Purple Tea"?
Purple tea is a special type of tea produced mostly in Kenya, and smaller amounts in Japan, China and India. Unlike yellow, green, oolong, black, dark or white tea, purple tea is not a tea type–it’s a cultivar called TRFK 306/1 that can be used for making all types of tea. It’s a tea that contains the same anti oxidants as purplish and blueish fruits such as blueberries, red cabbage or chokeberries – anthocyanins. In fact, purple tea contains very high levels of anthocyanin – 135 times more than regular green tea.
However, purple tea doesn’t brew into a cup of purple-colored tea. The name comes from the fresh tea leaves of a tea plant that have a distinguishable purple hue. Naturally purple or blue color in teas is very rare, such as deep blue intense color of an herbal Butterfly Pea Flower tea.

"We investigated the efficacy of purple tea extract (PTE) on diet-induced fat accumulation in mice. PTE administration (200 mg/kg) significantly suppressed body weight gain, liver weight, abdominal fat and triglycerides in serum and liver. Protein expression of carnitine palmitoyltransferase (CPT) 1A was also enhanced."
Shopping for Purple Tea Can Be Confusing
All of the JUSTEA purple tea varieties are actual Purple Tea. I have Purple Rain and Purple Chocolate on the way, and there are several other varieties - the actual purple tea with addition of things like chocolate, mint, or jasmine. Those are fine. JUSTEA also has other teas, of course, but their purple teas are actual purple tea.

I just learned about purple tea.

In searching for products to try, I found it a bit confusing.

Purple tea is a cultivar of Camilla sinensis, from which we get oolong, white, green, and black tea. There are various herbal teas that produce an actual purple color.

Purple Tea is not purple in the cup.

Now. There are many good herbal teas for health, but this is not what we are talking about here. I'm hoping this will help clear up the confusion.

Johns Hopkins "A literature review and meta-analysis of the effects of lockdowns on Covid-19 mortality"
Released just this week... Jaw-dropping, but the mainstream media has completely ignored...
"Researchers at Johns Hopkins University have concluded that lockdowns have done little to reduce COVID deaths but have had “devastating effects” on economies and numerous social ills."
“We find no evidence that lockdowns, school closures, border closures, and limiting gatherings have had a noticeable effect on COVID-19 mortality,” the researchers wrote in the report, issued Monday.
The study concluded that lockdowns “are ill-founded and should be rejected as a pandemic policy instrument.”
“They have contributed to reducing economic activity, raising unemployment, reducing schooling, causing political unrest, contributing to domestic violence, and undermining liberal democracy,” the report said.

The study was written by Jonas Herby, Lars Jonung and Steve H. Hanke of the Johns Hopkins Institute for Applied Economics, Global Health and the Study of Business Enterprise.
And this, while the Keene City Council on Thursday self-righteously voted to extend the ridiculous mask mandate for Keenebusinesses.
