Conservation Education

Board Member Spotlight


Omar Brown has over 30 years of experience in financial services, advising institutional investors in both the public and the private market. He has been active as an Investment Banking advisor to private companies and as an investor (endowment and hedge fund) in the alternative investment space throughout his career, with a transaction history across most financial products (debt, equity, and derivatives) plus exposure to all major industry groups.


Prior to Young America, Omar was a senior manager at RedTail Capital markets, Merrill Lynch & Co, Bank of America, Cowen & Co, and BTIG. He has also managed both debt and equity risk with responsibility for convertible bond and exchange-traded funds businesses. Omar received his BS in Economics from Amherst College. 

Edson and Barbara Whitney International Studies Scholarship Fund

This fund will award one or more annual scholarships to students who have demonstrated an interest in International Studies throughout high school and attend Delaware Valley High School in Milford, PA or Port Jervis High School in Port Jervis, NY who are planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university in pursuit of a degree in International Studies and/or related fields such as international policy, international public health, or global affairs.

Register for NEPA Gives!


NEPA Gives—a 24-hour online giving extravaganza that's all about giving back to the community. Scranton Area Community Foundation, Carbon County Community Foundation, The Luzerne Foundation, Greater Pike Community Foundation, Wayne County Community Foundation, Community Foundation of Endless Mountains have teamed up to host NEPA Gives.


For 24 hours—from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.—on Thursday, June 1, 2023 to Friday, June 2, 2023, donors may make secure donations to their favorite local nonprofit organizations through the NEPA Gives online platform. Donations to participating nonprofits will be enhanced with bonus funds provided by NEPA Gives sponsors—making donor dollars stretch further! Nonprofits will also be eligible for cash prizes. Registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving residents in Northeastern Pennsylvania can participate in NEPA Gives. And, anyone can donate!

Get to know the Richard Rhodes River Rescue Fund



100% of the income from the “RRRR” fund is allocated to the National Canoe Safety Patrol for purchase of equipment, training, and other necessary items to fulfill their mission to provide rescue and assistance, as well as safety education, to guests visiting the Upper Delaware Recreation Area.
